Good reason

Hi,

So joined a rifle club, one of the boys has a .357 underlever and my god oft, I want one big time. If you’re in a rifle club is that your “good reason” to own it ? Or do I need something else ?
Also wanting to get another .22 slot for a semi auto action instead of the bolt I currently have. Also quite a few of the lads have a 338 lapua mag for the big range they have. What’s the crack good reason wise and if I’m wanting to eventually have those calibres I’m guessing I’m best to go one at a time 😂

The underlever is big time on my wish list now

In Essex, being a member of a relevant rifle club with a suitable range is normally good enough, however if you want more than one of a calibre, we need to explain good reason. I have several .22lr’s, but all do different jobs
what would a reason be ? I don’t really have much use for my current .22 other than plinking
But I want a semi auto as-well maybe need to get rid of my bolt and buy a semi instead

Ones a target rifle other dedicated NV set up for pest control.
Cool, well I’m a member of said club so guess I have my justification for the .44mag underlever which I want
I’ll probably try get the .338 lap mag later on once I’ve been there a little longer

Damn wish we were even in Canada where once you have your PaL go buy all the calibres you want

I have a BSA International for target shooting with a sling, a CZ457 for target shooting with a bipod and scope, a CZ452 for target shooting unsupported with a scope, a 10/22 for a 20 yd carbine competition and a .22 upper for my straight pull AR to practice target shooting.

Something else you can own being a club member

It’s an outdoor club I’m in currently so dk if that’s something I’d be able to have. Am trying to join my local indoor range pistol club but they seem to have a 12 month wait list
Not sure they even do black powder revolvers though, think it’s all air guns
That’s one nice gun though would love to own that 😍

I shoot outdoor and indoor

338 Lap magnum is not cheap to feed.
D
Fun to shoot 😂
It only gets used on the big range which isn’t shot much so not exactly desperate to get it. But be fun to have and shoot now and again when it comes up for shooting it
The lever action and now the possibility of a muzzleloader revolver hmm that does tickle my fancy for sure

So you reckon I’d be able to get that on the premise of using it at the outdoor club range
Hmm very very tempting to apply for it 😂 not even kidding. May just have to apply fornit
Well, I’m in Essex, and technically it’s muzzle loading nitro powder (Westlake Alpha .357 6”). Black powder firearms require you to have an explosives licence a well, but indoor or outdoor makes no difference as far as I can tell.

Just researching them the now didn’t realise you got a nitro powder for muzzleloading so that’s interesting.
Think I’ll see how I get on applying for my centre fires first, maybe try for another .22 aswell for target only.
I could imagine if you go ask for a revolver there will be a lot of questions😂 and a desire to say no but none the less if it’s lawful and justified they cannot say no

It’s really good fun, loads of bang and flash, but obviously not much recoil

Target shooting while a member of Xxxx club should be sufficient. At the most extend it to shooting gallery competitions at xx club. But if you go 44 you may be able to get it conditioned for AOLQ

Well when I apply I may aswell try get AOLQ conditioned to it too so it’s not a plinker.
It’s just a great fun gun, but this revolver talk is an incredibly interesting idea to pursue aswell 😂

Some people in clubs don't have any hunting conditions on their guns. Being in a club is definitely good reason. Some of them have loads of guns (stuff like Enfields etc).

If you have hunting conditioned guns, really you might want to get them conditioned for range as well. I guess it depends on where the line between 'zeroing practice ' ( the usual wording on hunting guns) and something else lies. You could argue if you're using a hunting condition gun in a range shooting comp you're outside the the guns conditions.
