That would be good if we only had to pay for the days that we go out shooting.£1 a week is NOTHING in the grand scheme of things
I’ll pay it all day long

Sell a rifle but need a variation to then get a vacant slot for the same type of gun , then miss the 7 day window and get screwed for £50 to get a slot you already had !
...the cops couldn't tell you the difference between most calibres themselves!Cartridge / calibre in the real world makes really very little difference, especially when...
The counter argument will be the £50 is an administration fee that represents part cost of office worker processing. It’s like:
Honestly mate, that’s exactly it. You end up paying £50 just to get back a slot you already had, makes no sense at all. Feels like the system’s more about charging than actually making things straightforward.
“Congrats, you owned it… now pay again to own the idea of owning it”
it's not the fact it's not cheap it's the shocking lack of value , we are paying more for a much worse system !The sooner you all get your head around that it’s not cheap anymore the easier it will be for all!
This appears to be the case! What an utter tool

The reason public sector bodies always provide poor service is because there's no accountability or consequences for bad service. Why would they work to provide a good service, when it literally makes no difference to them. If anything is better for them to provide a poor service as more money will often get put in to it.Personally I would like to see a 10 year license with slots which become free once you sell a firearm. This would cut down the admin burden for the firearms team and hopefully make them more efficient and therefore keep the cost "reasonable".
I have no objection in paying a fair price for a decent service ... just paying a load more for a poor service is not fair or reasonable.
Do I think this will happen...possibly but lets see. Given I dont smoke and dont really drink a lot there isnt much I want to give up![]()
I agree to a point about the lack of accountability or consequence but I cant fault my local Firearms Team (Dyfed Powys). I also dont think people in the public sector set out to do a bad job either ... but in the private sector if you do a bad job and dont recover costs you go bust. The reason public sector bodies always provide poor service is because there's no accountability or consequences for bad service. I think the rule that they go by is that if it starts with a 2 it's safe, and if it starts with a 3 it's dangerous....the cops couldn't tell you the difference between most calibres themselves!
And the FAC states calibre not chamberingI think the rule that they go by is that if it starts with a 2 it's safe, and if it starts with a 3 it's dangerous.
Metric calibres probably cause them a mental breakdown.
