Probably no chance than me selling mine either consider and I wanna shift a lot all in one go but you never know

If you knew me you would know what kind of person I am, those who do know me know exactly what kind of person I am.
One thing I will say before I go back to work, I do hope variations triple in price, I do hope Firearms certificates go to £500+, because then I can just sit back and watch you lot whingeing, bitch and crab and I can just chuckle
it won’t be long but for game shooting/deer stalking as an industry will be gone, about another 10 years or so I reckon.
I’ll keep plodding along as I always have done

I can remember putting in a variation for a 7 x 57 Mauser or .275 Rigby.
The reply came back, you cannot have both calidres for this variation.
They failed to understand that they are the same cartridge with different names.

Went to pick up a variation form
Cop shop is closed
Dalkeith has a firearms
License dept , go there
Closed , no way to attract attention
Calls 101. They call station , won’t answer
Tries the number I have , disconnected
101 again , Sergeant says he won’t answer the door , email to make an appointment to collect the forms.
Go to Craigmiller
Exactly the same scenario plays out over 20 minutes but this sergeant also adds that all licensing depts have closed and everything is at St Leonard’s so I should go there as he won’t come to the door ( complete lies)
Goes to St Leonard’s and they could not have been more helpful.
So, 3 hours and 4 cop shops get a form , fill it in and hand it back
Can’t be done online
Oh and I called licensing but they only answer the phone until midday.
101 call staff are superb and completely embarrassed by the state of the service

Personally I agree with applying for a “slot” but If you are Replacing a rifle within that same slot then the transfer should just be digitally reported like a shot gun. There is no additional risk to public safety. It’s just a waste of effort and damaging to the gun trade.

There is no fee for a 1-2-1, and also no time limit to apply (apart from the end of the FAC validity). This is written in the HO Guidance.
If the FLD are applying a limit and fee, they are going against the Guidance and should be asked why they feel it necessary to go against this document of best practice.
When things have to be put in writing, often they can be seen in a different light.
