Following on from the discussions surrounding a ban on lead shot. I mentioned that plastic wads and cartridge cases were also going to be a big issue for the future. It’s seen as a big problem here as any hunter with a Danish hunting licence and residence in Denmark has the right to go hunting at sea and there are a lot that do. This inevitably leads to problems with plastic wads and cartridges ending up in the water.
So much so that the Danish hunting federation aims to phase out use of non bio-degradable plastic wads as quickly as possible. The problem is what to do about plastic cartridges ejected from semi autos and not collected up.
So, they launched a competition some months ago to try and help find a solution. The winner has just been announced and awarded a prize of 25000 Danish kroner (approx. £3000) for his idea.
It seems to work quite effectively
