Remembering your/my dog of the past.

My first and second dogs, both gone. Very different working characters. The dog, Luther, I selected at 4/5 weeks old, he came and slept on my lap. I picked him up at 7 weeks and he never left my side. Great worker, very driven and powerful a stylish running dog and rock steady on point. Excellent dog and won awards with him, taught me how to train dogs. The bitch, Dulcie, was very intelligent and happy. Always took shortcuts to find the solution, used her head not her legs. Would work for anyone and just knew what to do. She died 11 years ago. My current bitch is 11… they don’t last long enough.

I've put this pic up before, the red bitch is the best hunting dog I'll ever own, we were telepathic, whatever we encountered was fair game, from mice & rats, jays & magpies to Redskins and more, from four and a half weeks until 17, she was with me, I admit I let her down a little bit, but she never did me.

Had my home-bred lab Buzz pts last night, he was only 8.
The happiest, friendliest, tail-wagging boy you could ever meet.
Only used on deer a couple of times but I shot over him and picked up with him, he just loved retrieving for me.

Meg- leggy pure white Terrier . Paid £60 for her at 9 months old- probably 20 yrs ago. Cracking bitch- 100 % on a mark- would bolt a fox, could call her out at any time- great with the ferret and would retrieve shot game. Best day ratting was over 250 rats. She went diabetic around 8 yrs old and went blind. She left a mark when I lost her.

Bat **** crazy bitch. Some would say it had a bit too much prey drive.
She followed foxes down foxholes!
A small legend in the local hunting community.
Back when spaniels were not that common in Denmark.

She went on to become 16 years old, then she was struck by a car 🙁
Not a worthy end.

When i worked with Forestry and Land Scotland i regularly walked a new forest trail they were building accompanied by my beloved Lab and gave social updates on the trail building progress.
Sadly he succumbed to an aggressive cancer just after the trail was completed. My heart break was eased when my good friend 1000020006.webpthe area recreation manager asked me if they could name the trail after him.
