The out yesterday or today thread and...

Had a really long night last night was bloody tired and woke up with a horrid migraine so I decided it was time for a break day from being out, so I decided too vacuum seal the roe mince and start on this head from earlier in the week since It need too be done.

Such a weird deer, the bony antler growth right up against the head was a pain in the ass, better question is I'm unsure if there true antler or unusual bone growths so I dunno if I should recolour them.

Chemical company accidently sent me over a 5 litres of Isopropyl alcohol instead of my 12% peroxide, so that's annoying kind of tossed a wrench in the rest of the day.

Just back in from a very damp morning, stood back into some Blackthorn hedging, toting an unused O/U 12G after evicting the spiders from it.
The Vixen I shot about to slip into the paddock for another Chook was not, it appears the end of the problem .... 12 were taken before I went there, 7 were left, Another text arrived now they are 6 :(
Owner convinced it was a daytime rush in & grab job, so after blanking last night, I did a bit of guard duty ............... Chooks unwilling to venture out in the wet weather though.
Looks like another evening approaches on the rifle.;)

Text from one farmer Sat...crows on the drilled barley field... Got up at 5 Sunday morning and got to the farm about 6.15...not a sodding crow about....
Drove 15 mins to another farm and set up on some reseeded grass for a couple of hours and shot 12 jackdaws, 1 carrion and a pigeon. Frustrating but didnt fancy heading home after an hour round trip for nothing.

Entirely agree there mate 👍

Its the bloody expectation side of things that cocks it up. First time you shoot 25 you are over the moon...then that number creeps and every day you want to shoot 100 :).

Fortunately jackdaws will come to the call .. otherwise it would have been 1 carrion :(

Only if you are American ? ? Or not SD ?

Thought bore was the historic English - happy to be corrected though
4, 8, 10, 12, 16, 20 and 28 gauge are the common shotgun sizes of barrel where upon the bore is determined via a guage using the constant of the element of pure lead in the form of the number of spherical balls that make up one lb.
It originated in Britain.

Only .410, 9mm and 22 smoothbores are a direct measuring of the bores diameter using now established values of measurement. Decimal point inch and metric millimetres.

Just one yesterday.

Never ceases to surprise me when a Sub12 airgun goes through. It went in just below the ear and out the eye, lights out instantly.

shooting 14.35-grain JSB Exact Jumbo Express at about 590 FPS out of HW100 KT

Few hours out in a boat on out local stillwater last night. Blinking freezing and a bit blowy but had a cracking session. Had 18 to the net. Well that's the catch and release limit so the number I'm sticking to  Plenty of smaller fish but a good number in the 2-4lb range and I was the only one catching, which must have been bloody frustrating for others but no one was chatty or asked what I was catching them on so I didn't feel too guilty.

Sadly lost likely the fish of a lifetime (well my lifetime anyway) - played it for about 10 mins and it kept taking line and going on screaming runs but couldn't get it to the surface. Never saw it yet but it was in a different league to anything else I've had out of there (and I've had rainbows and browns in the 5-8lb range a few times). Suspect it was a big brownie as it wanted to go deep. Thought I was getting somewhere then it went under the bloody boat and I could not turn it. I was hanging over the side with most of the rod under water trying to put some side-strain on it and turn it away from the double anchor ropes I had out to hold the boat in position in the blustery wind. Then "plink", went wrong side of the rope and snapped me. I hate losing fish with tackle in them but all barbless so hopefully the hook comes out quickly. I'd say 80% of what I got in the net the hooks fell out as soon as I let the tension go on the line so fingers crossed. Did play on my mind a bit though :(
