"What does your daddy do..."

When my eldest was four we went to a birthday party with his new Reception classmates. It was outside in a field and one little boy asked:
Boy: “What are they running?”
Me: “Red-legged partridge”
Boy: “Are you a farmer?”
My son: “My dad looks like a farmer, but he’s actually a builder”
Me: ….

I attempt to turn teenagers into employable adults with a modicum of transferable skills and some ability to think for themselves.

While having my soul ground to dust by the remorseless and wildly irrational bureaucracy of a dinosaur like institution that regards educators as less desirable than rats.

Now retired. Work 15 years in agriculture as a herdsman. 23 years working in concrete repairs and specialist coatings and when I moved to Sweden 18 years casting concrete elements. These days a bit of part time game keeping, Dog training and SFA. Life is good.

In the process of changing career after almost 24 years of engineering, plant fittering and logistics. Going to invest a bit more time into the venison business, alongside some logistics based work. Have an air con and refrigeration course lined up in the next few months so will be dabbling into that side of life.

All this with a potential move up to Scotland next year. Exciting times ahead.
