.222 Stutzen

I have 2 older style Mannlicher stutzen rifles in 0.243 and a 0.308 and love them, they are so well balanced and a dream to shoot. They are out of fashion at the moment and a lot of gun dealers struggle to sell them so bargains are there to be had. My 0.243 came up from Ivythorn Sporting in the south of England for £650 and that included Apel mounts and Swarovsky 6 x 42 scope in immaculate condition and the 0.308 was bought for £375 with Apel mounts again in 1st class condition. The 0.308 was on the shelf next to a full stocked 0.270 and the gundealer bit my hand off to get rid of the 0.308 saying he could not sell them.

Very well found Mereside, I searched gun trader as well and didnt come across it . . . I will give him a ring in the morning.

Yep, its all scafold tube sized barrels and scopes with more adjustments than a rogue DSC L2 Operator these days.

Grab them while you can as I predict (again) a third meadow approach to stalking that may still encompass a certain correctness but openly seek to distance itself from the deeply unattractive traits of 2012 deer management so laid bare on this site to name but one. And why not the full stocked rifle as a demonstrable sign of such allegiance as for sure there could far worse.

Cheers

K

The add for the 0.222 is from Steve Beaty at Ivythorn sporting where I bought my 0.243 mannlicher, he is very good to deal with and very helpfull in fact I bought a Howa from him as well and I live in Scotland.

Hi mate,
Yes he is a decent guy, I had a rifle off him a couple of years back . . .

I had one last week, and yes the .222 is as nice as it looks in the pic, I almost wished I had a .222 slot and not .243.

Neil. :)

My "gun" desires have run rampant over the years !

Over time (and not all at the same time) I've played and or owned a rather broad selection of rifles and shotguns .

I'm at a transitional point now !

There aren't to many things I want !

I do however still want a Mannlicher Schoenauer mannlicher stocked 61MC or 61MCA in 6.5x54 , 7x57 or 308 !
I already have it in the longer barreled rifle configuration in 308 WIN .

I also would like a CZ527FS in 222 REM as well as a CZ550FS in 6.5x55 .

I've been in love with the Mannlicher Schoenauer mannlicher stocked rifles ever since I looked at my dads old 1960 Shooters Bible back around 1965 or so !

Not bought it yet mate, i'm taking my time trying to find the right set up . . its something I intend keeping for a long time so want to get it right.
