im not being highly opinionated here but i feel its wrong to hunt another hunter (wolf, bear etc.) especially the wolf, they are a keystone in their natural foodweb, they are a "feast-or-famine" predator meaning they will eat everything they kill and can go a very long time between kills they dont usually horde their food unless they are in an extremely well conditioned territory for them (no other wolves and lots and lots of easy prey) or they have whelps. they keep deer numbers down and encourage herds to move very frequently thus reducing over grazing and reductions in plant biodiversity. i believe people should only hunt for a positive purpose whether its for food to save some money (rabbit and deer) or to right the wrongs of human intervention (red deer culling in scotland because of the removal of their natural predators of bears and wolves)

So you don't believe in fox control then?

not particularly, cases with a serious problem concerning chickens or something sure, but i just think people are to quick to just kill things without looking for alternatives, for example a polish farmer managed to protect his land from wolves by playing a recording of wolves howling through speakers giving the impression that his land was in a much larger packs territory, it really depends on the reason needing the fox numbers controlled

haha, only problem is this is just a debate of opinions, im not trying to convert anyone to my way of thinking which i know is flawed as Perdix pointed out with fox control regarding my statement about not killing other perdators

Well from my personal situation it would be game bird protection and livestock protection but you views on that will depend on your views on driven reared game etc etc

No problem mate we all have our different opinions and views on hunting as with all things ! For instance when my girlfriend complains about the money and time I spend stalking I point out that we get venison very cheaply !! That's my opinion! ( the fact that I just spent a grand on a rifle is completely irrelevant :/ )

yeah im not an avid fan of rearing animals just so they can be shot but then again thats what in essence a farm is with beef cattle, I would love to reverse time and live in the times of hunter gatherers only with the knowledge we now have on animals and preparation, thats my mentality for hunting, food and use, i admire the inuits that way, they hunt seals but use ever part, blubber for food, blood for broths and soup, they create household items from the bones and use the oil for lanterns and such like

What about creatures that have a negative impact on food, or in common parlance pests like foxes, crows, mink, stoats, etc? They're all hunters, and are commonly hunted. That said, there's nothing wrong with not wanting to kill a wolf or any other animal.

The innocence of youth, P.Beast are you studying in college?

If you search SD you'll find quite a bit about wolf reintroduction into the UK and replies from countries around the world where they have already tried it, in some cases the wolves are becoming a problem and are now being culled. Unfortunately Britain is not the country it was when wolves roamed freely, it's a small island that is getting smaller

we are hoping to hunt wolf next year if we can drum up enough interest. As for weather its right they do untold damage to livestock and deer pig/ populations and are hunted under licence issued by those governments. So who are we to say its wrong.

yes i am, but what do u mean innocence of youth, this has nothing to do with innocence im not saying "oh no dont kill that nice wolf hes so cuddly" all im saying is i think its wrong to shoot a wolf, take a picture lying next to is bleeding corpse and go "im a wolf hunter look how awesome i am" they might sell it they might mount it on a wall but they wont really get anything out of it except the thrill of it which is horrible "yeah i get a thrill out of killing something for no reason mainly cuz im allowed to if i kiled anythin i wanted to get the same thrill i'd get arrested"
