How Many Stalkers Hold the Advanced Deer Management Qualification?

It must be growing but to what current level? What % of stalkers hold the qualification?
Courses are offered by the BDS (not seemingly by BASC) and by Jelen. Any other concerns offering these courses?

Cheers, K

I have just passed mine with Jelen it was hard goin but brilliant at the same time. cheers Hootsman

I did the course with BDS in 2010, and the main instructor, Dave Goffin, in his preview of the course, advised our group that there were approx 800 registered with the registered bodies.... Which would be a very low % of all stalkers.... Not sure how many have been added in the last 3 years but it won`t be that many due to the low number of courses per year....

That said, there will be more than that total already involved with deer management, who have the knowlwdge / experience, but do not feel the need to hold the certificate...

All the best.

Neil.

what do you mean registerd with DMQ? They don't provide a course.

Did mine last month with bds, the first of the 3 day courses, instructed by Dave Goffin, Chris Howard, Dominic Griffith and Jamie Cowdery. Excellent course, put a lot of things in place in my own mind and some very valuable info passed on from prominent figures with provenance in the deer world. Got my results through, awaiting certificate. I think there might be a write up somewhere soon in the sporting press as Selina Barr attended the course.

Hi Deer Man.

Yes, my error, sorry. I meant the bodies offering / validating the ADM course. One of the guys asked the question, and Dave Goffin responded with that approx figure, and I just noted it down during the session... Whether that figure was accurate or not when quoted I do not know, just responding to the OP.

All the best.

Neil.

did the jelen course. know a few others tht have done bds course. sounds to me that both have their merits i enjoyed the jelen course, my friends enjoyed the bds course. comparing notes there were bits of both courses that were unlikely to be that useful ie im unlikely to do live capture and my friends are not that interested in custom rifles but it was interesting none the less.
There will never be a definative course as deer management is so subjective.
