Boyds Brno Stock

Just so you all know, Boyds made 2000 gunstocks a week and soley use Rutland ply for all their stocks also Rutland supply laminate for 95% of all laminated gunstocks in America. they also supplied all laminate to GRS and about 80% of all laminate used the world over. It burnt to the ground on the 21st of August and the factory was a total loss, all 170 staff have been told to find other jobs. The knock on for supplies of all other riflestocks ie mc millans, manners has yet to kick in but it wont be good. You thought the powder and tips drought was bad I think you aint seen nothing yet.
How long Boyds will be before they run out of materials I do not know but setting up a laminate plant is not a 5 minute job, Rutland have said if they rebuild it will be at least 2 years before they are up and running again.
By the way Joe West riflestocks are the only people making laminate longer than 35 inches and the other 2 companies making laminate have been swamped with orders.

Holy Cow! They provided laminates for Remington and Ruger as well. This is a HUGE blow to the industry. And those poor people who lost their jobs, man, I feel for them.

Please let us know how you get on with this, It will be very interesting as to when shortages in supply start to kick in.

Boyds stock arrived yesterday i was not in .My Daughter picked it up from the PO today just got it off her looks great feels great will fit onto tikka 695 in a few days . Also sent my tikka mags to osprey coatings to be cerokoated in day glo orange less chance of a lost mag . One fell out of the action and over a hour later i found it after passing by it twice

Mine arrived yesterday, that's just over a fortnight from ordering. Very happy with the quality, my 10/22 dropped straight into it.

Boyds do still ship overseas, it was the restrictions brought in on tactical stoks that was the problem, they just give them another name now, simples :D

Ordering stuff from the States can be a bit fraught these days.
If you see a big black suv with lots of aerials near your house and a guy with shades on at the wheel try not to worry.
:D

Time will tell, Rutland ply is no more and Boyds soley use rutland ply. I also know rutlands insurers are in no hurry to pay up as they owe me thousands.

I orderd a stock today for my Tikka lite, and dident seem to be any problems,

There won't be, I ordered a Tikka stock a month ago from Boyds, it took only 13 days to arrive. Even with the customs charge it stands me £127 and the quality is superb, you can't get better value.

I see Boyds is making stocks for my old but very good Brno Zkk 270Winchester. I really consider a Classic grey Laminate stock to make it look like a just new rifle.

But anybody tried to fit a Boyds stock on the Brno? And are Boyds stocks heavy or light? My wooden stock is very heavy and + x56 scope and a moderator it gets pretty heavy to carry around.

Thats why I also have considered just going all in and buy a Mauser M12 Extreme. But if the boyds will work on my Brno it will be alot cheaper + my Brno is accurate so why fix something which isnt broken.

Jeg kan maaske hjaelpe, send en pm

I just fitted one to my ZKK601 , it fits perfectly . I fitted the pillars that came with the original stock and epoxied them in . I opened the barrel channel. A little as I like plenty of space around the barrel . Shot it yesterday and loved it very accurate and easy to shoot . I chose the thumbhole grey .

Just ordered a thumbhole job for my tikka varmint. I'll post some pictures when/if it arrives
