Just so you all know, Boyds made 2000 gunstocks a week and soley use Rutland ply for all their stocks also Rutland supply laminate for 95% of all laminated gunstocks in America. they also supplied all laminate to GRS and about 80% of all laminate used the world over. It burnt to the ground on the 21st of August and the factory was a total loss, all 170 staff have been told to find other jobs. The knock on for supplies of all other riflestocks ie mc millans, manners has yet to kick in but it wont be good. You thought the powder and tips drought was bad I think you aint seen nothing yet.
How long Boyds will be before they run out of materials I do not know but setting up a laminate plant is not a 5 minute job, Rutland have said if they rebuild it will be at least 2 years before they are up and running again.
By the way Joe West riflestocks are the only people making laminate longer than 35 inches and the other 2 companies making laminate have been swamped with orders.
