Shot quite a few foxes out to 50 yds with 22 subs (headshots). What would be the recommended distance be with 22 stingers be, as i,ve never tried them on fox.Seeing that the stinger has more energy.

I believe the stinger has approximately the same energy, it is a shortened lightweight bullet in a longer case. This is achieved as it is a heeled case. As a rough guide:

.22LR ~ 175 ft/lbs
.22LR ‘stinger’ ~ 175 ft/lbs
.17HMR ~ 275 ft/lbs
.22WMR ~ 325 ft/lbs
.223REM ~ 1,300 ft/lbs

Test grouping and decide. They are not known for extreme accuracy.

Having tried various brands I totally agree. See what your local dealer has and try a few different brands in your gun.

I wouldn't bother with stingers; extra velocity but a lot less accurate giving poor results..

The quoted (Standard) 22LR energy level is way out and in any case is not the same as 22 stinger.

P.S. The OP is using .22subs at the moment.(approx 100 ft.lb at the muzzle)

SMK long range I suspect might get you what you are looking for , reasonably accurate at longer ranges, shot placement is probably more important than power (my opinion anyway)
good luck

Only ever had one rifle shoot them well. A Remington 597!
80yds for Charlie but in all honesty, a subbie across the ribs will do just as well.

As has been stated in the previous posts, several brands through several guns has produced very poor results for me.
Stick with subs. and accurate placement.

Sorry to rain on your parade but as has been said, tried all sorts of high and hyper velocity 22lr rounds and always gone back to sub sonics for accuracy and by extension efficiency.

They are extremely innacurate and extremely loud. Worthless. Stick with subsonics, silent and extremely accurate as they dont break the transonic barrier.

What he said. I tried them many many years ago thinking they might be the best thing since sliced bread..... Nope. Groups so poor they were hardly 'groups' at all and very loud. I did shoot a fox with one .. an already dead fox, just to see what damage they did. I was amazed to find that penetration was no more than an inch or so as the bullet had 'splashed' on impact.
On the other hand, I've killed plenty of foxes with a good old 40gr subsonic. Head or chest shots at sensible ranges and they fall over just fine.

Seem to group fine i my CZ out to 50m. No difference in accuracy from CCI HP subs or CCI std velocity.
They are noisy and I find them a bit dirty. They are also a tight fit in the chamber so the chamber and the bolt face have to be kept clean otherwise the bolt starts to get difficult to close. So I can understand why FB43 has problems with the extracter claw. But on the other hand at 50m they do a lot more damage than a sub-sonic or standard velocity. From the data on the CCI website they still have about 18ftlbs over standard at 75 yards. But thats no good if they are not accurate in your rifle. Try some on paper and find out.

CCI Stingers designed to miss faster. Velocitors, a bit better but still all bang and poor accuracy.
Stick with subs or match ammo you don't need a HP for bunnies and squirrels if you head shoot them.

We stopped using Stingers shortly after their release as they would not shoot straight enough to take full advantage of the extra velocity.
If you need greater range use a good high velocity .22LR (1200fps+) that will inherently shoot straight and learn to judge bullet drop or buy a .22WRM (as we did).
