6.5 Creedmoor Options

The safety on the Lupo looks ok it sits under the scope so it shouldn`t be less safe than most rifles.
You also have a bolt release button so you can unload the rifle with the safety still engaged a real +

I have a Sako 90 Varmint SS laminate which has a lovely action, is laser accurate and lovely to shoot. Other considerations might be Mauser 25, Tikka 3x in a PSE Evo stock. There are so many good rifles to choose from. The PSE stock is awesome.

Hi all

I've narrowed it down to the Tikka T3x and the Sauer Keeper

Any pro's/cons for them? The ones i'm looking at are second hand from a very reputable dealer who has bore and throat checked both, and says they're both in v good condition.

The T3x has a stainless barrel and is £850 inc F&D mod, harris bipod & sling

The Sauer 100 is £775 including F&D Mod and pic rail.

Both have the standard factory synthetic stocks.

Would you say the Tikka is worth the extra money, as it has more aftermarket stock choices? I also have a T1x. Are the stocks compatible between the T1x and T3x?

Have them both bore scoped and buy the one with the Barrel in the best condition?

I am leaning towards the Tikka. Anyone agree/disagree? It doesn't have a rail on it. Would I need a 15/20MOA rail on it? I'm going to buy a Hikmicro Alpex Pro on the rifle
Tikka is a good choice. You won’t need a canted rail for an Alpex, buy a zero MOA or mount with Optilocks. If it’s a LRF version you want the centerline to be parallel to the bore so when you zoom in the laser aiming point stays within view (assuming the Pro works the same as the 4K that is). Irrespective, unless you’re shooting 600 yards plus you don’t need a canted rail.

A couple of months ago I picked up a Sako 90 Finnlight in 6.5cm.

I’m a relative rookie and have only shot a few boxes of Hornady 143 eldx through it so far. But with that it cloverleafs at 100m.

Handles nicely, feels solid and I like the metal mag and slightly better safety catch that allows for bolt release.

****edit: sorry just noticed your comment about budget so appreciate this might not be that helpful!

As with AM_lilycombe, dealers who have access to borescopes should be more than happy to show you the results as well, not just say. That being said, just because a barrel looks rough, doesn't mean it won't shoot perfectly fine.

I would recommend the Tikka over the Sauer. Aftermarket stocks is 1 main consideration, spare parts is the other. Personal experience is that Tikka spare parts are fairly easily sourced. I have no experience of Sauer unfortunately.

I've just finished my second season with a lupo. I've found it to be a very good stalking rifle and I'm very happy with it. I've had no issues with the safety.

Yes the stocks are compatible between the two as long as its not the T3X Tactical stock or one of the new T3ACE or GAME chassis types.

Get the tikka.

The Sauer is a nice rifle but if you're gonna have a tool, you might as well have the one that's widely available to get spare parts, aftermarket stocks, etc.

My T3X lite is in the standard synthetic stock. It's not the best synthetic stock, but it's not terrible.
I want to try the more vertical trigger grip which is available for about £30.
The biggest downside with the stock is how slippery it is when you have wet hands - I'm guessing this is why they now do the roughtec.

This exactly. I have a 20MOA canted rail on my t3x and annoyingly the LRF box is bang on the middle of the reticle. Very annoying.
