Moderators off ticket tomorrow then ..

How did 18 year old's and drink get slotted into Sound mods!!!
So a none firearm is still a firearm what's the point for the change 🤔
Another waste of our fees and taxes 🙄 let alone how much it cost for coffee and biscuits 😑

Simple answer is no - in the HO Guidance I’m sure it says that moderators are not counted as firearms for the purposes of security so I’d say that they’ll simply be removed at the next opportunity, ie at renewal or next variation. Leaving just the real firearms on the FAC.
Just done mine be in 5yrs .been better to just remove them all together and not still label them .
How much easier would be to get a new one should it go wrong and zero waiting time for a 141.
After all when its not on a rifle or shotgun all they are good for is a fishing weight! When on all they do is protect our hearing and keep the disruption down a bit around the grounds. In some cases help control larger caliber units.
Always was a stupid law 🙄.

I'll believe it when I see it .
So will I be able to mail order a .308 moderator?
I doubt it .
No, you will still need to show “need” in the same way as powders and primers etc🤩

@maxwell ……… Postal Order 😂😂😂😂😂😂👍.

When I started basic training in Nov 1971, my Mum sent me a 5£ postal order every fortnight for 6 weeks until I got man’s pay (17 1/2 years old)🤩

Where does it say that?

So I'm guessing no Comms from any police or shooting orgs yet? Do we still have to keep them locked in the cabinet? Can they be posted? Etc

Can't wait to lob this anchor of a 223 mod that came with the rifle. I think it's made out of cast iron, by a blacksmith in between shoeing horses.

It's a joke that I've had to keep it this whole time simply because the procedure is too much of a faff.

Offer it up for sale here, it may sell 🤞

You can treat them as you want but from tomorrow, they aren't "on ticket". They are however still a licensed part

Possession of a sound moderator or flash suppressor

(1)

Subject to any exemption under this Act, it is an offence for a person to have in their possession a relevant accessory unless the person holds a firearm certificate or a shot gun certificate.
Does 'relevant accessory' here not mean a moderator which is actually 'an accessory to' a S1 firearm - i.e. actually attached to a S1 firearm?

A moderator which actually is part of a firearm (e.g. like on a Delisle carbine) isn't covered by this - I don't think detachable mods of the kind we're think about have ever been considered 'licensable part'?

A none-firearms, as far as I can tell, is still counted as a firearm when it is attached to a S1 firearm. That seems not to have changed.

What does seem to have changed is that possession of moderators attached to S1 firearms is now allowed by any holder of an FAC (or, weirdly, SGC - thought as you'd still need the FAC for the S1 firearm, I'm not sure how that is useful) - which means that there is no longer any need to have a symbolically-occupied variation on your FAC for a mod used for a particular calibre or range of calibers.

It looks to me as though moderators attached to non-FAC airguns or S2 shotguns will still be as freely usable as before this planned change (i.e. you'll still need SGC for the S2 shotgun the mod's attached to) - and moderators of all kinds not attached to any firearm ought to remain as freely availble as before the change.

That, at least, is how I read it.
