For Sale: “Ugly Annealer” Gas Annealer

You list the following inserts as being available

Insert 1 (223) takes cases upto 10.2mm thick
Insert 2 (7.62x39) takes cases upto 12mm thick
Insert 3 (308) takes cases upto 12.8mm thick
Insert 4 (300WM) takes cases upto 14mm thick
Insert 5 (338LM) takes cases upto 15.9mm thick

Are any suitable for the 45/70?

The SAAMI spec for the 45/70 appears to show a 0.608” rim (15.44mm) with a body which tapers from 0.5039” (12.78mm) down to the 0.48” (12.19mm” case mouth so I’d suggest giving it a go in the 308 insert, but if you’re finding that too tight, you could always step it up to the 300WM insert. There won’t be so much free clearance as to get jams at that level.

Plus you can step the wheels away from the machine body slightly to accommodate for the rim (just how it was designed) so no issues with that element either.

Only problem is they’re now out of stock! Had a mad rush but got plenty more on the way - should arrive mid-April 👌🏼

One of the calibres I would wish to anneal on your machine would be a 6.5 Grendel, a tiny case and perhaps very little leeway for error in time and alignment?
Any experience of that small a case?
Thanks.

I don’t personally reload for that cartridge, but I’ve had a Quick Look now and correct me if I’m wrong but it doesn’t look TOO far away from the 6BR size of case? Either way, it won’t be a problem. The different inserts allow virtually ANY size case to be annealed, and the 2 different sized lower wheels are there to accommodate the different lengths of cases.

I can’t see why this case would be any different ☺️

Thanks,

Martin

Thanks for the quick reply Martin.
The difference is 0.036" Overall length 1.560" for a 6BR opposed to 1.524" for a Grendel.
Thus 9/25"

Am I correct in that you will be having more stock in mid April?

That’s correct, there are more on the way. 5 will land mid-April and another 6 at the end of April 👌🏼

Two queries please Martin, am I correct in that I would need a extra insert to anneal 6.5 Grendel cases? at what price would that be please?
Also, it's recommended that a extra long torch head is recommended, what cost is that also please?

No extra insert needed mate, it will 100% be fine on one of the 5 included - probably the “308” one.

I recommend using the Fine Flame torch, and also sell them via the main website at just £10 👌🏼

All - I am getting a lot of messages about the annealer, which is great! I can only apologise about the delay in stock coming in, it’s due to the website being so new it’s hard to gauge demand, and with stock taking 2 months to arrive, it’s taken some time to be able to work this out. It shouldn’t be a problem going forward, but I do apologise to those of you waiting.

There are 5 units due to arrive ROUGHLY 11th April and another 6 units arriving ROUGHLY 27th April.

There are also 20 units just been dispatched, but they won’t arrive until roughly 24th May. Hopefully by then the supply/demand should be spot on!

Please go to the website and register/click “notify when available” and you’ll get an automated message as soon as they land - Ugly Annealer | Derraco UK

For anyone who doesn’t want to wait/take a chance, I can order them straight to your door via airmail, but shipping costs on this are £35, making your order £235. Still not a bad price! I appreciate many won’t want to pay the premium, but some might, so the option is there.

In the meantime, most other items are in stock here in the UK, and there are a few ⭐ new ⭐ goodies coming to the lineup shortly as well - watch this space!

Thank you all for your kindness and patience 🙏🏼

Hi Martin. Do you still have the 1x coloured unit on the shelf in stock?

Cheers
No, I’m afraid not. The next 2 batches as described above will both be the silver models. The coloured models won’t be back in stock until the end of Maybim afraid. Unless you’d like one shipping to you directly, as described above.

Sorry,

Martin

Simple mod I came up with for the GoSystems torch so it fits the exsisting clamp.
(Torch is currently £4.31 on Amazon)

8mm inside diameter nylon spacer and some heatshrink sleeving :)

The torch head simply unscrews, slide the spacer down the shaft, you can add a bit of epoxy to hold it if you want to.

The shaft doesn't get hot enough to damage the spacer, cover with heatshrink and good to go.

I'd recommend a bit of plumbers tape on the threads when re-fitting the torch head.

I think on the first one I did I also added 1 or 2 layers of masking tape around the spacer before the heatshrink to increase the diameter slightly.

Hello Martin,
I've ordered the 'Go System fine flame torch head' from you.
Looking at disposable propane gas cannisters they would seem to have a 1" UNEF thread, is this compatible for the torch head?
Thanks.
