I wonder if someone could help me, especially if they have access to the Quickload software.
I want to shoot pretty low velocities in my 30/30 with 120 grain cast bullets.
The data I have is the case capacity is 2.52cc of water and the powders I have in order of preference to use are Hodgdons universal, 2400 and Lovex D036.
Any help would be gratefully received and, as the old saying goes, I'll see you alright when I get my specs cleaned.
FWIW I can't get unique and I have about 350 of these bullets to get rid of, ditto the universal plus a few hundred 40 odd year old primers (that's how close to the bottom of the barrel I came at one stage)
This is to shoot on a range that is noise restricted and preferably subsonic velocities though that's not supercritical. It's a bit like cowboy shooting with twist and turn targets.

With 2400 you won't get much lower than 1600 FPS. I found it's not much good under 16gn in a 30-30 case.

I use Alliant Herco with any weight bullet between 6&9 gns in 30-30.
Can you get a can of Herco?

Or use a pistol powder like vhit n310- 320
3grs for starters!!

3-4 grs It worked in my .308 . You just have to remember to hold the rifle muzzle up to make sure the powder is at the back off the cartridge case before firing . We used to use it before we had trail boss only for cast bullets. I just use 2400 in my 30-06 now though.
