I‘ll soon get my hands on my ‘new to me‘ Tikka 17 Rem. Hopefully it’ll become my dedicated thermal foxing rifle once I get some load development done.
I’ve accumulated everything I need including 200 Norma brass cases (after a disappointment with Nosler Premium brass). Ive N135, RL15, AA Xterminator, RL10 and AA Big game in my powder store.
I used N135 in my last two 17 Rems but that was for 20gr Noslers; there’s 1/4 of a tub left and I’ve heard VV have added a copper cleaner to the N-1 powders that, for some, have changed the performance of the powders. The Xterminator I’m using in my 17 Fireball with 20gr V-Max for 4080 f/s.
There’s precious little load data out there for the 17 Rem so I thought I’d ask the question.
Q: is anyone using RL15 in their 17 Rem with 25gr V-Max; is so, how much powder and what sort of velocity are you getting? I’m hoping for around 4100 with the 25’s and if RL15 could be the powder.
If anyone has Quick Load, I’d be interested to hear if there’s any 17 Rem RL15 load data on there too.
