17 Remington brass issue

I’ve just measured the expanders on a standard Redding neck and full length pair at .1705”
I've also got a Redding Type S bushing neck die set (which I think I bought new but I’m not convinced I’ve ever used) and the expander on that gets down between .1695 and .1700 as it’s not actually round. The surface is a bit rough so I think it’s one that slipped through quality control.

I might start looking for a carbide button to replace that but they might be like unicorns...

I’m using Remington brass too.

cheers

Thanks for all the info and advice. Ive a temporary fix in that I’m using the RCBS FL die with the decapping rod reduced to .165“ so it’s not expanding the neck after it’s compressed in the die. The die I’d giving me .1695” which is probably about right. Theres another advantage in the till get less runoutif I’m not using the expander.
Haven’t decided yet if I’m going to go Lee collet die or get a different bushing for my L E Wilson neck die.
Thanks again
