nothing wrong with the lads chosen calibre for roe,,, a bit of advice mate,,limit to head shots no shorter than 300m ,,nice clean kill,, dam keen

My initial post was asking if anyone knew of a 50 soft point....but this fetches me to my other point with the use of .243 on reds...varmint calibre, only legal with the heavier bullets that alot of rifles struggle to stabilise,I know a couple of guys that use 85/87gr bullets on red which is illegal, but I do not have a problem with as the deer cannot tell lol...but the use of .243 on a red stag is no different than the use of .204 on roe. In fact energy per kilo bodyweight the .204 should be more humane??

I'm not sure per kg energy scales like that. It would if the only thing that mattered was the energy dumped into the target - but it isn't. The depth of penetration, the proportion of vital organ damaged and the speed of blood loss are just as (or possibly more) important.

A 30 calibre hole in most animals below the size of a cow will kill them inside a few minutes. A .20 calibre sized hole will take much, much longer.

.243. Does everything up to 100 grn

England, Scotland and Wales

if you want a bit of fizz pop stoke it up

no problem, all sorted

Ohh and thanks for the humour, hilarious and enjoyable thread

I didn't think you would dare to apply for it solely for deer. What a copp out!

not sure how you think it works....when i applied for the .222 it was for a dedicated nv rifle for foxes..when my licence came back all my rifles were for ALQ...thats how it is done...If I asked for a .204 solely for roe to prove a point to a guy on SD my feo would return with the sniffer dogs thinking I was back on Ketamine!!! A drug I haven't had since my 2 day high 18 months ago, very unpleasant stuff.......

To be fair, it's an email address that is readily available online on the police Scotland website.

he has had 4 days to come up with proof it is not legal, you rang BASC to confirm it is legal, he thinks by trying to pressure me by ringing my licensing office and posting police e-mails I will crack and break down, start crying with fear and open up...ok ok its not legal!!...I do not have the authority to over ride Scottish law.

Im just trying to prevent you breaking the law. You started by saying it ws legal and you had confirmation it would be granted, now youre reverting to aolq and pinning your luck it on correct bullet type and achievable velocity. You are on an area of thin grey ice. Im past trying to help you. Good luck and respect the quarry please.
