Seen previous posts saying the .22 creedmoor could out perform a 22-250. Just curious if anyone has tried the .22 creedmoor with 53g/55g vmax bullets? If so what’s the fps that you get out of it
OK, post resurrection.
Some real world data:
53gn VMax, loaded with 46.0gn of RS62 = 3920 ft/sec (25" barrel, 7.7" twist). Sub half MOA group @ 100M.
If I increase the load to 46.5gn I'm over 4100ft/sec, but group opens up slightly and sometimes the bullet blows up before it reaches the target, especially once the barrel is dirty..
Good on a windless evening, but with a 9mph (4m/s) cross wind I start to see at least 12cm drift at 250M, that obviously needs careful adjusting for if shooting small targets such as rabbits.
75gn ELDMs are doing around 3450ft/sec - much better in the wind (just over half the drift), obviously not quite as laser flat but its only 1 click different at 250M (MILRAD scope)
