Be interested to know how that big 45 performs on a Stag. Should provide a nice thru-n-thru shot if you aim at the chest. Doubt it will go more than a few steps and leave a really nice blood trail if it does. What is your load?

If you are using a wad over the 777 delete it when going nitro. Wads and nitro almost guarantee a ringed chamber.

Probably find the rifle will shoot better with BP and lead than either 777 or Nitro. I typically have ES's for 10rds under 15 fps in my 45-110 with BP. I tried some 5744 in it but the accuracy was so poor I never took the effort to chrono it.

I run my 45/120 with a 405 and 110g of goex ffg , never bettered the accuracy with smokeless ? I don't bother with any nonsense , clean/size/re-prime/110g powder/seat bullet and go shoot !
