.270 what rifle would you have..???

Ok so been looking alot at brno so i fancy an old girl lol...

I've owned a few Brno 600's and 602's. They were all good quality, reliable and accurate rifles. I owned a ZKK-602 chambered in 8X68 that would shoot 1/2 moa groups all day. It had the built in peep sight on the rear receiver ring that I always thought was a great idea. We hunt in some fairly remote areas and a good back-up sight is cheap insurance if your scope fails and you're two days back in the bush. I've always liked the Brno single set triggers, they're easy to use and when used unset they aren't to terribly heavy. The standard triggers are quite good, they're easily adjustable and can be taken down to about 2.5 lbs , which is as light as I care to use on a hunting rifle.
If you can find one in good shape, I'd take a BRNO 600 over most newer models . They're made of steel and walnut , no plastic or mystery metals, and will be around long after a lot of recently made rifles have crapped out. Just one mans opinion.

Good hunting AB

i shoot a weatherby 270 .very accurate rifle and think they are quite cheap to buy new or second hand.i knew someone else who had a weatherby and swore by it.i got mine for £225 second hand and is about 20 odd years old and had a few rounds through her and still shoots true.it is worth more to me than what i could get selling her.

Parker Hale cheap as chips, very accurate, often available as a package with scope etc. Paid about £300 for mine with scope sling and bipod. I havent bothered but they say the stock is beautiful stripped down and oiled. Long barrel allows all that powder to burn hence full benefit of .270

How do you find the trigger ...i was told they are awful....

parker hale triggers aren't actually that bad once you get used to them. They are on the heavy-ish side but are very predictable and have a nice feel to them which takes you away from the pull weight.

not sure about all the models but mine you can adjust and after brithunter sent me a drawing of the trigger explaining the adjuster screws mine is super, light no creep and its a joy to use, atb wayne

I had a Parker Hale in .308. My first rifle. Really liked it but some one offered more than I paid for it, so off it went:-D Replaced it with a Remington 700 varmint. For a first rifle you can't go wrong with a mauser 98 clone action . Plenty around for not much money. Look at CZ, any one with a 98 action. I've now got a interarms mark X. Boyds stock, timmney trigger Swarovski 8x56 stands me at £600 all in. Not bad for a stalking set up.

My first stalking rifle was a parker hale 1200 in .270 over 30 years old when I got it and it shot fantastic with factory ammunition and even better with home loads. I have just traded it in and got myself a cz 550 American in .270 and love that even more as its my first new rifle , so I would recommend either depending on your budget. I could shoot sub inch groups with the parker hale and only paid £250 for rifle, suppressor and scope. Trigger was fantastic and the only down side was when developing home on the range the barrel would heat up quick.

My nicest was a 4-digit serial numbered, 1937 Model 70 Winchester. My most accurate, hands down, was a Howa 1500. Gave it to my daughter's mother-in-law. :banghead: ~Muir

My first 270 WIN was a Ruger 77R tang safety and it did okay with factory ammo . Later I had a Kimber 89BGR Super Grade that was pretty nice . My latest and possibly last is a nice older Ruger #1B that I popped three deer with one afternoon this past season .

Actually I may get another one day and it will be a Mannlicher Schoenauer MCA Carbine or a Mauser 66 .

BSA cf2 for me, I looked at a Parker hale safari which was very accurate ( or the shooter was) not a lover of the lite rifles.

Well.... My flo phoned today and .270 all ok also my euro ticket should be here tomo,, so time to get shopping..well done northumberland force...

A few years ago I bought a Mark X mauser in .270 at a gunshow...it has a pretty walnut stock with rosewood forend and pistol grip cap...originally I had planned to rebarrel it to a caliber that I thought was worthwhile..:D but when I took it to the range it shot so good I decided to keep it just the way it is! Since then my wife decided to use it, and claimed it for her own...but I later found another, Mark X mauser in 270, a newer model that shoots just as well as the first...and now that one is hers! Excellent rifles for a cheap price...and what is not to like about the .270?

Can anybody tell me when they stopped production on the cz 600 zkk....been offerd a nice one for £ 275...i was told its about 7 years old :-/.. ?

I may be wrong, it happens a lot , but I think sometime in the mid to late 80's . I'm sure someone here knows the exact date , sorry I couldn't be of more help .
