I have 5 22rfs all with the same threads, every time I applied for a new rifle I'd add another mod as the rifle I might buy may be different. You have 5 unused slots ? Are you an RFD ?
Which county do you come under - they probably allow 50 cals for rabbits.
Think you have to register to manufacture FA components with your local constabulary. Mate had to begore he did.I've got 5 free 22lr moderator slots on my FAC and I'd like to see if a light weight 3d printed mod would work on my 22lr and was wondering the legalities of this, I could add a serial number to the mod and record it on my FAC, just wondering the possibilities, obviously this wouldn't be for any financial interests and I'd be the only owner.
And moderators cannot be swapped between firearm and air rifle, regardless of whether or not they appear on an FAC. As quietly advised by my helpful TVP FEO recently.if you made them for an air rifle or rim fire you can sell the air rifle ones legally with no problem but if you say they are for a 22lr they need to be on an fac ! strange but its the law.
Really? Did he quote the legislation? And moderators cannot be swapped between firearm and air rifle, regardless of whether or not they appear on an FAC. As quietly advised by my helpful TVP FEO recently.
Thanks for the reply, it was very useful to hear from someone that has had the experience, I was only going to print a moderator just to see if it really would work and see how light weight I could make one.Really? Did he quote the legislation?
If you have a certificate for the moderator what difference does it make?
I do love some of the things FEO’s say.
Ok so going back to the OP.
I have on my certificate a moderator that I made (I even filled in my certificate when I finished it).
So a bit of background. I have a Lancashire FAC. I wrote to the FLD and asked was it legal for me to make a moderator for my 243 (which I had at the time).
I received the following reply from the Licencing Manager.
Yes it is perfectly legal to make a moderator. As you have permission to acquire said for your 243.
However we would like you to put a serial number on it and enter that onto your certificate when completed.
We would remind you that it requires proof should you decide to sell it.
So unless there’s something specific in new legislation ie the Violent Crime bill that stops you. I don’t believe there is as you have lawful authority to acquire them.
I am not sure I would bother 3D printing one. The hassle of changing (1for1) should it go down range when you first fire it or wear it out. Vs the cost of buying one that would last decades.
The problem is that to make the process legal. You have to fill in your certificate and notify the FLD of the fact you made it.Thanks for the reply, it was very useful to hear from someone that has had the experience, I was only going to print a moderator just to see if it really would work and see how light weight I could make one.
It's a Weihrauch air rifle mod that I had used on both by sub12ft air rifle AND with sub-sonic .22lr, perhaps if it were the other way round there would be less of a problem.Really? Did he quote the legislation?

Then that’s correct (technically) as it is not a “firearm” in the sense of being on your certificate. It's a Weihrauch air rifle mod that I had used on both by sub12ft air rifle AND with sub-sonic .22lr, perhaps if it were the other way round there would be less of a problem.
(Even the FEO acknowledged it was crazy.)
And you can’t sell it unless you‘re an RFDSuppressors/moderators/silencers dont fall under the Gun Barrel Proof Act 1868 so need no proof but even if it did fall under that it'd only need to be proofed if I were to sell it, I think
Guff, provided its on your certificateAnd moderators cannot be swapped between firearm and air rifle, regardless of whether or not they appear on an FAC. As quietly advised by my helpful TVP FEO recently.
? When my ticket comes back next week I’ll have 7 open slots and a lot of full onesYou have 5 unused slots ? Are you an RFD ?

As I say above, it's not. It's a sub12ft Air rifle mod AND even if it were on the FAC, TVP position is that you can't swap between the two- if it were an FAC air rifle it would be permitted.Guff, provided its on your certificate
The Law's position is that's you can't put a moderator on a section 1 firearm unless its on your certificate - whether or not that firearm is a section 1 air rifle or powder burner! As for whether or not moderators are transferable that probably comes down to your conditions. As I say above, it's not. Possibly to prevent others making the same mistake. Not everyone is up on the Law (even though they should be) and may not be as lucky with their force. The Law's position is that's you can't put a moderator on a section 1 firearm unless its on your certificate - whether or not that firearm is a section 1 air rifle or powder burner! As you admitted to breaking the law you were fortunate they only had a quiet word, I don't know why you then went on to advertise it on the net!
