4x4 advice

You only need to pay duty on it if your using a certain amount :!: you just dont tell them how much your using ;)

Now, now chaps, the Government has enough to do looking after every lame duck, lazy b***##d they can find. Lets not bother them with additional work trying to decide how much duty should be paid on cooking oil, they might take the easy way out and just put up the price of veggie oil to cover the duty, Gordon's good at that. Just go quietly about your business and don't make waves ;)

One thing no one has mentioned about Landrovers................................................................................................................................ make sure you take your false teeth out before driving one, because it will shake them out of your mouth   PLUS wear thermals in winter, because you will bloody freeze to death as the heaters never work in them. Ohhh and the windscreen wipers on all Landrovers still look like they are made out of old coat hangers.

Awaits in coming

Nice warm push button 4 wheel drive leather seat, crew cab Isuzu, LOVELLLLLLY.  comfort and you keep warm as well ;)

Hi Owenontour,
A fellow ex mod Land Rover driver! Well done that man. ;) You must be mad as well!  Welcome to the best stalking site by far. ;)

Still travelling in current MOD rovers too, but I get paid for that ;) means I ain't stalking anything (on 4 legs  ) till the end of september

Hi Owen,
Blimey mate not another squaddie! The place is over run with em! :-D It's a good job that we also have the Senior Service on the site. ;)

I'm surprised there aren't more TBH, DDM is an excellent way to start this stalking lark, but it takes aeons to get to the stage where you can go out on your own. Luckily I have a mate with some woodland that has a problem, his exact word to me were "thin their numbers, dude".

Back to the thread topic, why does everyone complain about LR heaters, mine works fine, and if I'm a bit cold just open the window and the suction draws in loads of hot air from around the engine!

Your isuzu might have leather seats and gadgets but I bet you can't wash all that blood off the interior with a hosepipe like you can with a landie?
Don't knock the design of my wipers, they must be good because they have'nt changed them since about 1962!!

All the best,

Gyr

I have seat covers on my Isuzu and a plastic liner in the back, so I dont need to put anything in the cab, it all goes in the back ;) Besides I guess you are right, there are so many bad fitting panels on a Landie, there are plenty of places for the water to run out of the cab when you hose it out

And Landrover wipers are like wire coat hangers, true they havnt changed since 1962, its about time they did

If you did as many miles as I have done this past stalking season in a Landrover, you would be in the local hospital having back surgery.

Chill out, its only a laugh

Don't worry I am chilled out, it's only a bit of fun as far as I'm concerned.
I just like my landie and accept all of it's many faults.

All the best,
Gyr

Good on ya Gyr, its nice to see that people can take a bit of stick and a laugh. Landies are very good vehicles, of that there is no doubt, apart from the wipers

Cheers

I'm amazed at all these problems people "know" about with Landies, I've had mine nearly 5 years now and all I've done to it is put a new engine in, and that was because I wanted to rather than needed to, in fact the old engine went straight into my '58 S2 to replace the (still working but thirsty) original 2.25 petrol.

Maybe I'm just lucky

I love my landy :-D
like i said before its a 2004 Td5 XS model with heated seats (To warm your arse just where the draft comes through the door)
Air con (To equalise the interior pressure where all the gaps let the wind in)
A heated screen (To melt the snow Where the wipers are that ancient they dont touch the screen)
& leather seats (so its easy to wipe the water off that leaks through the door seals)
But heck its chipped & boy it goes like hot snot & i love it :-D :-D
Actually joking aside this seems to be the only defender ive had that doesnt leak, No wind gets in through the seals & it doesnt drip oil on the drive :-D O yeh & everything works
thing is you either love em or hate em & when you love them you tend to adjust to all the faults with the design & get on with it :-D every defender has a character of its own. Ive owned enough of them & everyone is different :-D Still to this day i regret selling my Camel Trophy 110 with all its battered body panels & doors that didnt shut because it was rolled on the Camel Event, But with 250000 miles on the clock with its original engine & still going strong today you tend to forgive all the faults & apreciate a classic design that aint changed much but does the job :-D
