6.5 PRC moderator.

Which moderators are folks using on their 6.5 PRC
Would prefer an over barrel type, but open to suggestions.
Interested in sound reduction ( obviously) and felt recoil.
Thanks in advance folks

If your priority is sound suppression then either Wildcat Predator (over barrel) or Elite (end can). I find the Elite remarkable across a range of calibres from 22CM though 6.5 PRC through to 300PRC

Freyr & devik I am impressed with this I have got several different mods on other riffle and find this to be the best for the 6.5 prc

Ase jet z - awesome / heavy / will last forever mines about 20yrs old now

Stalon - the largest they do I think WE149 quietest moderator I’ve heard - but it’s comically large

HAUSKEN Jakt WD 60 - my planned next moderator as or one of similar models has the highest decibel rating I’ve seen on paper.

I'm sure @Edinburgh Rifles done a full test of moderators and the sound reduction.
He put it up on here a few times as a spreadsheet.

PRC is a lot of powder through a relatively small bore
Will cut aluminium mods in quick time
Personally I run a PES/MAE on my 6.5-284 (same powder volume)

Stainless will last longer
ASE SL5i, Jet-Z etc all good
Nice Svemko will also do the trick!

Or one of these British built all stainless units

I don't profess to know anywhere near as much as others who have posted.

Nevertheless - for what my view is worth - I run the DPT with muzzle break end module and the stainless baffle.

Muzzle flip is reduced considerably by the muzzle break end cap; that does come at the expense of sound attenuation. Its not the quietest, but still more than sufficient for its intended purpose. If noise reduction is your priority, don't go DPT.

I wouldn't say don't go with the DPT as I shot mine as standard without the brake end to start with and then added the brake end later on.

The DPT is still good as a.moderator when used without the brake end, but the benefits of the adding it to me outweigh the negatives

I have the sl5 on my 6.5 creedmoor, don’t know if it’s the best but I’m happy with it. It does make it significantly quieter and reduces recoil IMG_5831.webp

Why increase noise to reduce recoil on such a light recoiling calibre?

Muzzle flip ! The chambering no different to a .270 in felt recoil terms , the issue is muzzle flip , especially in those rifles that built with reduced weight in mind as in a stalking rifle. If you want to see your impact with this chambering you need a big can/ brake or both Especially if your using Hot 140 / 150+ grn home loads. adding weight will obviously sort it but thats not something most want to do if its your stalking rifle 😂

This is just my findings.
