A 10 Moderator

Griff is asbsolutely right about not needing to have your rifle proofed after being screwcut as it is purely your choice, as he says, you only need to proof it if you pass it on to another person and that person not being a gun dealer.

My .270 is not proofed and my last one wasn`t either but i don`t lay awake at night wondering if plod is going to bang on the door.

There are too many people who try to state fact without the relevant information. ( ipeefreely)

Proofing would only cost around £35 anyway at Birmingham proofhouse so long as it were sent with a bulk load of others to be done and the biggest hassle is waiting for it`s return which could be a month.

mm, Griff - Don't you also need be be an RFD to manufacture firearms IE a moderator ( component part )? I know it is legal for me to thread my own rifle for a pre-manufactured moddy but i cannot make my own can i regardless of proof regulation.
I don't think i should choose aliminium for the baffles etc. if i were to make one, i doubt it could take the flame and heat.
Do these A10 mods come loose internally when they expand with the heat ?
Does "running in" mean Filling up with crud to lock the threads up a litlle?

sorry Griff i meant to address that last remark about manufacture the the peefreely bloke !

Griff,

Thank you very much for your post and taking the time to explain the facts. I read that with great interest. I did not think the gunsmith would have lied to me about it, he is a good man, hence I did not want to name and shame as some others were asking. I love my rifle dearly and have no intention of parting with her yet!! Great mod and the new one sounds even better.
Cheers
Miles
