Griff is asbsolutely right about not needing to have your rifle proofed after being screwcut as it is purely your choice, as he says, you only need to proof it if you pass it on to another person and that person not being a gun dealer.
My .270 is not proofed and my last one wasn`t either but i don`t lay awake at night wondering if plod is going to bang on the door.
There are too many people who try to state fact without the relevant information. ( ipeefreely)
Proofing would only cost around £35 anyway at Birmingham proofhouse so long as it were sent with a bulk load of others to be done and the biggest hassle is waiting for it`s return which could be a month.
