A precautionary tale: be careful out there.

Glad everything wasnt too serious and you got it sorted though you should keep an eye on it for swelling and turning red.

your tale has made me rethink what i pack in my first aid kit, even though im only currently getting rabbits acidents do happen and you have to be prepared for when they do.

thanx for the tale mate

Complcancy and rushing are usually the cause off the mother of all feckups. I've had a few near ones althou never with knifes only wi power saws and falling and winblown timber, u have to have ur wits about u all the time. The ammount off times i've made a mess off the last tree off the day esp on a fri cos in hurry to get home.

Could off been worse thou, u could have done it a couple off weeks ago and no london marathon for u. That would have been a real sickener after all that training, in the snow as well. Seen ur mugshot in the paper. Well done.
All ended well thou and u get a nice story and war wound too.
Been to the doc then or is it healing ok by it's self.

Out off couriosity why did ur ex the woodcutter/tree surgeon take dogs to work with them. I would never take mine out, always scared he might get hurt by something

Glad it turned out ok in the end mate. It could of b een a lot worse as you said.

A first aid kit on my shopping list now, my stalking partner has some of that clotting powder he carries as well as feild dressings

Yep, have always carried a HemCon KytoStat impregnated bandage & some Celox Haemostatic granules in my first aid kit, absolutely invaluable for stemming heavy bleeds.

Hi Mate

Yes if I had missed the London it would have been a gutter, I missed the Langholm 8 miler on Sunday as it is. Doc’ gave me a Jab and says it is looking good, the stiffness in the knee is getting less each day.

I think I will add some clotting powder to my first aid kit, as has been said if not for yourself it would be good the dog.

You can leave it in the van or truck and it helps deter any thieving sod from trying to nick you kit whilst your away from the vehicle up a tree or chainsawing like mad with your ear defenders on and can't hear them smashing the window or punching the lock out.

Cheers that makes sense.
The way i read it i thought there was some elf and safety thing:doh:

I used to cut and climb on the railways a few years ago worked allover and the only place we had to leave some one in the van was carlisle on nightshifts near 1 scheme. The lad who got it thought that was the easy job until they started shooting at the van wi airguns. Little toerags.

Puts me in mind off another story mate off a mate used to go up to parkhead glasgow to watch celtic play; parked his car in the scheme nearby and the wee lads run up to him saying "Alright mister watch ur car for 50p" which he replyed its ok son left ma dog in it. Quick as a flash the wee guy says " Aye but can ur dug put out fires " so he gave him a couple off quid to keep his paintwork intact

NEVER buy a cheap knife especially a folder.

Hi Buddy

I wasn’t using my big Red/boar sticker knife, it was just my little roe knife, good job or I might have lost a leg.:rofl:

Personally I don’t like a folder for doing deer, to hard to clean after the job is done, all the blood and gunk gets in the handle, has anybody done there DSC2 with a folder?:???:
