A proven wasp killer.

The Euro wasp in Australia is a real scourge and there are some smart people out there that have developed some very good methods. I have employed the sugar /yeast trap this week and have 40 wasps in it already. New queens included.

The nest killing Fipronil PDF mix in the link bottom of page is a sure fire winner also but the developers say to strictly follow the recipe. The bait will be taken back to the nest by the workers and kill queen and colony.

This following recipe is simply a trap.

Milk, OJ or opaque soft drink bottle 3 x 12 mm holes. Leave the lid on. BAIT:1. Dissolve 250G sugar into 1 litre warm water from tap.2. Add 1 tsp powder Yeast.3. Allow to stand indoors 24 hours (or more) until fermented.
Time until fermented will depend on room temperature. Bubbles will appear and foam or “scum” appears on the surface.
Smells sour.If mix seems slow to ferment add another teaspoon of yeast.
This mixture is enough for two or three traps.
You may need to top up or renew mix in a couple of weeks due to evaporation.
Bees are not attracted because of the Yeast/ferment. Hang in a sunny spot in your garden. Use 2 traps for the average house block but more is better.

If you get ants start over: Wasps will not go near anything contaminated by Ants. To avoid ants: Spray the point of attachment (tree branch) with insect surface spray before you hang the trap or stand the trap in a dish of water.Further information help advice and support is available from the European wasp control project.

The Fipronil recipe is in this page. Both methods really work.
