I have 52 cm barrel in 308 and 58 cm barrel in 6.5×55. 308 is a great cal capable of everything from still hunting deer to driven hunting wild boar. I must however admit I use only the 6.5 nowdays. Less recoil, less bang but still plenty of efficiency. The short 308 can be pretty thumpy and loud. The 6.5 also enables one to use an iteresting range of bullets from 85 gr on, making it very versatile and usable even for fox hunting, while with tougher bullets I even take it to driven hunting. Why buy something like 223 or 243 if a 6.5 can do everything those do and even much more.
