ADVICE FROM HAMPSHIRE POLICE

And now the CPS guidence to police is, that driving to exercise location is ok. As long as the exercise is longer than the drive (the source wasn't clear if this was time or distance).
So await revised proclamation from the Hampshire FLD ???

CPS as in chief police officers...not crown prosecution service (who would baulk at making any decision that they had to work towards). As an aside...I wrote to BASC yesterday about Hants threatening dictact in light on the revised social distancing/exercise allowance. Let's see their response!

My local FLD have informed me that they are only allowing fox shooting if taking lamb, they need to speak to farmer and will see who has permission on that land and the closest person will be the only one allowed to shoot that land. they will not consider deer control to protect crops, even with letter from the land agents stating deer are causing problems, I have been told my details are now on the system as being told the new rules and I take my chance if I go out or not to control the deer. I take that as they will attempt to revoke licence.

That was nice of them! Not.

Making it up as they go then!

The polar opposite to this (and other) constabularies. I doubt they’d have a leg to stand on if pushed. As for revoking licences, it must be wet dream time for some with nothing better to do.

It could be a an expensive and stressful few months for me if they do try and make life awkward for me. I have passed it to BASC to see what they say 🤔

Please post the reply - it might be ‘illuminating’. ;)

Not sure which constabulary area you are in Jon?
But it would seem sensible for the person who was closest to do the livestock protection on any given piece of land,If there's a landowner or gamekeeper then its there Job and it can't be done from home so they can travel to do livestock Protection, If fox shooting is your pastime or passion and not your main job then you could be braking the rules I would think!
Like with many other Firearms things it would seem each different Constabulary is interpreting the Government guide lines on this matter differently.
If you are a full-time deer manager, landowner or gamekeeper doing deer control then this also is your job and can't be done from home, but can't really see the point of shooting other than the odd one for the pot because what are you going to do with all the carcasses as game dealers are closed and pubs and restaurants are also closed.

Hi I from Gwent in South Wales, I understand why the lock down is in place and I have close family members working for the NHS. I am not a full time keeper , however I cull deer for a man who has a shooting rights on an estate, I don’t get paid but I also don’t pay for the shooting either. I was only mentioning foxes in this post as that is the response I had from the FLD. It is interesting that allegedly my neighbouring force has not put theses restrictions on and there Firearms holders can go out with a letter from the landowners, I am employed as a Key Worker now so having to deal with members of the public face to face on times , so possibly in the back of my mind I was thinking that if I go out to work and deal with the public in the lockdown then what harm is it sitting in a wood on my own on my down time. This was not one for the pot deer, theses are deer causing damage to spring crops, my freezer is pretty full of venison already. I thought others would find it interesting on my local FLD view on the lockdown.

I thought dentists and opticians still open?
S
Wife's a hygienist. Both her practices are shut . Basically because use of air powered aspiration tools is forbidden plus unable to maintain social distancing let alone the non essential use of ppe ......
Cheers

I have been tasked twice in the last fortnight by Hampshire under our HAD Scheme therefore it is a reasonable assumption that HD is deemed as an essential activity so not an issue to those duly tasked,

Me too in sussex. Alive deer in the road presents a life threatening hazard.

What's hard about stay at home stay safe and let's stop the spread ???
Largely the bits where people are pretending the law is more restrictive than it is, relating to activities that are zero risk in terms of spread and in all other ways.
