Aim drag bag zip failure RUBBISH

Is it just one of the two zippers that doesn't work properly ?

Have you tried the pliers trick?
As the zip looks in good nick i reckon it'll work. Basically over time being pulled, the top and bottom plate of the zipper splay slightly. If you squeeze these back together a bit with a pair of pliers it should work again.... Or it won't

Worth a try though
I was just about to post the same. Often works for me.

I’ve had an AIM bag 2 1/2 years. Lives with me most days in a Gator. Never had a problem with it and other than occasionally sponging of mud it’s never had a problem. I certainly don’t look after my gear.

I recently posted about a range bag on here, looked at a friends AiM one and then found a carp bag company NGT - the bags look very similar and appear to be made in the same place - one is £20 and the other £130….it would appear the small AiM badge is worth that to some…

Have an Arktis bag as purchased within 5-minutes of entering the 2005 Game Fair. I’ve been brutal with the main zip from day one but it refuses to let go.

K
I have an arktis bag, purchased from them at a Bisley meeting. The stitching on one of the side pockets failed so contacted them expecting a replacement as bag not that old at the time but response was along the lines of "yes we can do it but we'll have to charge you" - I didn't bother & bought a s/h AIM60 which is still going strong 🤞

Most durable drag bag I've had over the years has been a Webtex one that cost me £25 from a long closed surplus store in Brookwood. That received so much abuse but took it all before after 20+ years the zip finally gave up & started to split on the corner. I can't & wont complain about that!

Do you have a link please?

These are great

Wanted to share my experience with aim
And my dragbag 55
I bought one as I was led to believe they are the rolls Royce of gun slips which is reflected in the price but I’m a firm believer in you get what you pay for and also like to buy British where possible as opposed to some of the cheaper stuff made in Asia and the likes
I’ve had my bag for about 3 years and am anal with all my kit so it’s in mint condition
And about 3 weeks ago the zips started to fail ie you close it and the zip parts away I’ll post a pic , so I contacted aim directly as I purchased it from them and thought with it being high end kit they would have some reasonable solution to repair or replace how wrong I was !
They basically told me all they are prepared to do is offer me an another bag with 20 percent discount!! I’m absolutely gutted as the bag is now useless and he said they can’t repair them or replace the zip which I find ridiculous considering they are supposed to be British made or so I thought
Absolutely shocking customer service in my opinion wish I would have purchased of Phil at Ogdens as I can 100 percent say he would have replaced the zip which is obviously faulty or an inferior cheap zip
I would strongly recommend do not wast your money on there products as you won’t get any help if it’s older than 24 months
That’s shite! Cheek to offer to a discount that’s basically the VAT.

Then they cry, why do you buy on the internet

Had an Aim bag for 4 years, no issues yet and gets used regularly. They are clearly not doing themselves any favours are they?

Ping a link mate

Never mind I see it above 👍

I have had an AIM bag for about 5 years I think and it gets some stick often overweighted n the range with 100 plus rounds in mags and the rifle and other bits when being used on a range... no issues at all.
However I feel that you may be being a bit unfair to the company.
I understand that your bags is nice and clean and looks like new BUT does that alter the number of times that you have opened the zip?
The company gives a 2 year warrantee on its product..... you are 1 year over that. where do you expect the cut off time to be when they say 2 years?
Yes it is only the zip, but often they have to almost remake the product in order to replace. a zip.... almost cheaper to just replace the thing!
I know that it what Napier did as I used to buy their returns at the Midland Game Fair and get stitching redone at my local proper cobblers for 3 quid a bag!

In respect to where the bag was made, it was the zip that failed, where was that made?

The zip will undoubtably be China, YKK apparently build 95% of zips - but I think the issue here was that they wouldn’t repair a premium product after only 3 years - which is disappointing in my opinion, these products should last 5-10 years with “standard” use…I think we, as consumers have been fooled into a position where we seem to accept poor products and customer service in the U.K. and it’s a bit annoying considering we pander and push the green agenda - maybe government should put pressure on manufacturers to ensure their products last and are suitably tested as this would ultimately help the environment if things lasted longer.

For example - A pick up that’s chassis rots after 7 years is not helping the environment…and chucking away a £200 rifle bag after 3 years is not good.

I agree but think that there has to be a cut off for a free repair..... most goods sold have a 12 month warrantee - Aim is twice that - partly that is due too the 'premium price'. Do you wear a pair of 300 quid boots almost every day for 4 years and expect to have the company replace the soles for free when they wear out? I don't, I pay someone to fit new soles..... if they wore out in 10 months, then I would moan!

I don’t think the OP was asking for a free repair - he was happy to pay to get it repaired but not have to pay 80% to get a new one when it just needed a zip fixed.

Not all stuff made in China is the same quality.
I recently bought a telescopic seat as shown at the Shooting Show. Paid £22 and it works very easily.
Soon found similar ones for £7 each so bought 4.
Close exam. shows they are not the same (Although they look alike) and 3 of the 4 won’t close down fully and the other one closes occasionally with a lot of messing about.
Wrote to supplier and the told me they should work if I I do my part right.
Ken.
