Aimpoints on 416 Remingtons, good enough for 100 yards?

Been a while since I shot the 416 Remington, so I shot 10 rounds offhand with the 416 Remington from 100 yards to 25 yards. I'm happy how a small 2 MoA dot can still get the bullets on target on a big gun.

I have an RD 20 on my R8

Shoot the .22LR barrel at 100m off hand quite a bit with it

Not getting adequate off hand practice with medium calibres for fear of upsetting neighbours

Bisley this month but STILL won’t have the 404 J barrel for the R8

Good shooting with the 416 by the way 👍👍

RD20 very nice. My first competition in about 8 months so I was a bit rusty. To be honest I could have had a few sessions with the R93 22 LR barrel but hunting season finishes one week and the summer competition starts the next week and there is never enough time for practice, its just "gentleman are you ready, commence firing!"

I have just put a vortex red dot on mine ( Blaser 93 like yours) will try it out next week
Post how it went on this thread. It took me 18 rounds off the bench to get my 416 sighted in about 44mm high at 100m with the Aimpoint. As painful as it was, it hasn't lost its zero in years.

I will. These are loaded with MME swaged bullets. I looked at 416 Rigby as well but brass is more expensive. I am thinking about a Baser barrel in 458 but I do not think it will feed well from the mag insert. Obviously 458 Lott is an option but for competition use probably cheaper to find an old 458! I put a vortex on this 9.3x74R which is quite good but required many hours of filing to fit the EAW mounts.

I would have thought the 458 would feed if you use the 416 magazine. I only know of one custom 458Win Mag in the R93. These days its better to get an R8 and 458Lott downloaded but you are right its cheaper to buy a second hand 458 winchester. The vortex looks like a nice fit too.
