Not my cup of tea normally but need one for a specific job on the farm ( corvids feeding in beef sheds)
Must be powerful enough to kill stuff but not need an FAC slot, that probably gives an idea of my knowledge level too!
Springer, pcp, co2, what have you?
West Sussex 3 counties border area.

Why not ask someone local to do it? it's always difficult for people to find permission and with the greatest respect, if you don't use air rifles normally, they will probably be a better shot, I've done this kind of work for almost 50 years and always used a .177 inside barns etc as they don't punch through the asbestos cement rooves

I thought that once then twice , never ever will i do it again . You will take the blame at least in part if it all goes "Pete Tong " you will catch some blame . Literally had one guy approach one of my hosts after bringing them on .

The HW35 is accurate, relatively cheap, and doesn't rely on compressed air, which is good.

I have done a fair amount of this kind of thing and i very much prefer a good break barrel springer in 22 . Like the HW80 and a low mag scope . Jackdaws is it ?

Personally I would avoid a springer.

If you want to spend ages mastering it- and probably a fair bit of money tuning it- you will eventually be able to shoot it nearly as well as a PCP.

You can't use a springer on sticks or with a bipod, follow up shots are slow and they are all hold sensitive to a certain extent.

Or just skip it and get a PCP which you can shoot in the same way you can a firearm.....

Neutral hold, soft consistent surface...

Neutral hold, soft consistent surface...

Indeed. But very few people can do that every time. Finding soft consistent surfaces isn't always easy. Sometimes you can rest a springer on your hand and have that on a shooting stick for example- but it's an awful lot harder. Most will miss.

Keeping a PCP accurate to 45 yards is a doddle. It's much much harder with a springer. Let alone in hunting conditions.
