After deep cleaning the 6.5x47 earlier in the week the barrelled action was swapped into the modified AICS stock & the 6-24x56 Diavari fitted before a trip to the farm this morning to check the zero.

Rifle is 17 years old now - proof mark is 2008, & round count probably around 2,000. Ammunition is stuff I loaded to ship out to SA for a competition back in 2019 but which ended up not going due to lack of paperwork from SAP šŸ™„

Scope is mounted in Burris Signature XTR rings, elevation wound to zero (200 yards) on turret but didn’t touch windage from last time out.

Centre to centre is 17mm, pity I pulled the 2nd shot as I didn’t have a rear bag & was shooting off the car bonnet - oh & it’s only 3 shots so not a proper group but I’m happy with .32MOA at 200 yards thank you very much.

Only one variable left now… me!

My pistol club in the 1970s used to have a Wappenshaw at Christmas. Everyone brought an item to the value of £1 (it was the 1970s don't forget) and then we shot and the highest score got first pick of the prizes and the runner-up second pick and so on until the lowest score took the one item left.

Reminiscent of the good old days of the BDS SE Branch Stalker’s Competition when there were some very serious prizes on the table including Swarovski & S&B ā€˜scopes plus all sorts of other kit - blagged a couple of nice knives & a sling I’m still using to this day šŸ‘

Only two prizes for this comp - one for the main comp & another for the single shot nearest the bull. Keeping my fingers crossed šŸ¤ž

The old school way, simple and fair, I think alot of clubs/syndicates should adopt this system, not sure how motivating a £1 prize would be today:lol:

You tight wads, both our club wappenschew and the county wappenschew Christmas pistol shoots had a prize limit of £5.

I can’t believe you don’t know this ?

You put your finger or a coin over that flyer for ā€˜scale’ then claim 3 or five in the other group there , is this your first day posting on the internet ?

Upon reflection, the group - I use the word advisedly - looks a little "open" to my untrained eye! Best shoot again and with 5 rounds ASAP.

K
Ps: You probably 'pulled' the flyer!

Heck! Skinflints? I resemble that remark! LOL! Back in 1977 a £1 note was a four pack of beer in the long tins too and change given!

Enfield our wappenschews were run slightly different to yours. The winner had the pride of coming first but had last pick from the prize table, so coming second gave you first choice of the prizes. Incidentally you nominated your handicap before you shot.

This may be very hard to believe but one year I won our club wappenschew which was a PP1 format that year, using a double barrel Rohm derringer in .38spl. I only used it for fun and was more surprised than anyone when I had the score closest to the nominated handicap. I think I gave myself a handicap of 15 so 285 was the score to aim for.
That little pistol shot about 2 foot high at 15 yards. I wish I still had that derringer now it was fun to shoot, and I suppose you could use it for humane dispatch.
