Alpex mounts

Picked an Alpex 4K up today and had hoped the stars would align and it would just fit in my Talley lightweight rings. Unfortunately they are both too low and cannot get the scope mounted far enough back, so will have to stick a pic rail on the rifle.

Anyone know if medium rings will be ok on the rail with a sako a7 spotter profile barrel? Imagine very similar to tikka etc so what are people using?

I'm using Hawke forward reach high picatinny mounts on my Alpex.Used mainly on my rimfire & AA S510 XS.

Dolphin mediums on my custom remmy (pic rail) just enough clearance on a varmint barrel. Also damn good mounts for reasonable coin.

You should be able to get it to fit using standard Optilock bases & medium height rings - mine did on my Tikka before I went down the rabbit hole of fitting a rail & using XTR rings to move the lrf box to where I wanted it.

What do you think of the XTR rings in general?

I like them, have been using the Signature Zee rings for years because of the eccentric inserts that allow you to mechanically centre up scopes & build in elevation. However they’re designed for Weaver rails & were too tight for picatinny. The XTR are perfect for picatinny. Only negative for me is the aesthetics - not sure they really need to be 3 screws wide, I’m sure they’d work just as well with 2 screws, but then they probably wouldn’t look tacticool enough
