Ammo flight case

I can sympathise, in my experience there are very few handling and carrier staff who actually know the regulations or how to implement them correctly. Nine times out of ten the default solution is just to say NO!
On more than one occasion I've stopped some of my kit being denied on flights and confiscated by overeager staff, only for them to realise they are dealing with someone who actually knows the regulations. But always be mindful that the Carrier (Airline) has the last say and can refuse to take any passenger/ cargo if they wish.

I would stick with makers head stamp with makers box if at all possible. With lufthansa I had my ammo in a locked small Tuff Box - just like the peli case shown above - inside my big duffle bag. Airport security often have an OCD mentality. Simplest not to give them any excuse whatsoever.
No issues at all, safe back in Edinburgh the baggage handlers put my rifle case and duffle bag on the general conveyor, even though clearly marked "Firearms etc". I had gone to the special collections point. There were a number of twitchy phone calls until one baggage handler brought them to me saying that his boss had made him on the baggage conveyor. Lets just say the Police were n't happy with the baggage handlers!

I would not openly advise anyone tries to mislead the authorities.
However, very few staff would be able to differentiate between different calibres or types of ammunition never mind to be able to determine manufacturer. Which can be shown by how many know that, by law, the ammunition has to be inside manufactures' packaging.
In case you're wondering, yes I do homeload.

Last two trips to SA one with SAA and one with Emirates. Ammuntion in 20 Round separate boxes within a locked box in my normal hold luggage. I was never asked about reloads at all which mine all were. Only questions on both paperwork and verbally were how many rounds and how much did they weigh in Kilos.

I have never ever - oops except once as mentioned ealier, by BA, had the actual round inspected.
That wasn't really an inspection either just a look out of curiosity by a guy that didn't know what a .308 was.
When I opened the carton to expose a .308 silver tipped bullet, the mini bus driver, a female from Jamaica, said "oh they look nice and would make nice ear rings " she then pointed out to all the other guys, Police, Security and ground staff, that the Pilot was the authority on what could be taken aboard and what couldn't, so a quick 'phone call solved the 'problem'
Originally when it was 'found' I was told that ammunition was not allowed on any aircraft no matter what.
All the other guys, all fourteen of them, had boarded with the same or similar ammo and packed the same way as me, naturally I didn't mention that !!

I don't suppose anybody has a few empty manufacturers cardboard boxes in .300wm that I could have along with the plastic cartridge holder section. I have not purchased any factory ammunition for the rifle and did not intend to. I'll obviously pay the postage and a couple of quid if needed.

I've got a couple of those to store my reloaded range ammo in. They are not a patch on a small peli case.
I'm just a novice compared to Eddy and co, but I have never been asked to even open my ammunition case, let alone open the boxes inside. Like others, just asked how many rounds I have, and how much they weigh.
I use either a Peli 1150, or 2050, depending on calibre, and how many rounds I'm taking, and like the MTM 20 round cases to hold the rounds, but will pack them any way I can get them in, with foam to stop them rattling. Mix of factory, and home loads.
