Ammo for DSC 1

If you can hit a barn door then you'll pass the shooting test just fine.
You get three attempts at each distance - far too generous IMO

BASC membership for DSC1 is compulsory as per their DSC1 application form, follow the link below.

I did look at other training providers, however been as this one is being run less than 10miles from my house, the cost of BASC membership is less or equal to the travelling I would need to do for another course. So will use them for this years insurance and go back to 3C card next year.

The point being made by I.Farticus and myself is that if a person wishes to undertake DSC qualifications is that BASC membership is not needed in general. They may insist on it if it's undertaken by them though. A point only made as factual information.

I did my DSC 1 with a guy who used to be an active and successful competition shooter. On the day of the test, he lost it and was shaking terribly. He only passed on his very last shot believe it or not. He could certainly shoot, but under exam conditions, being watched he really struggled with the increased pressure!

Grief guys! :D

Answer as previously given.

In terms of reloads, BASC are better responding to clarify the situation. But I would imagine you could take a selection from - Insurance Requirement, Risk Assessment Issue, Club / Range rules - very much doubt its just for the sake of being awkward.

As others have pointed out, the requirement to be a member of BASC is applicable only to courses/ Assessment taken direct through BASC - there are other providers, even ones operating through BASC as an Assessment Centre that do not have such a requirement.

If you choose to breach the requirements of any Assessment Centre, your Assessment is liable to be void. I've not come across any rules/ requirements yet that are just made up for the sake of it - with any provider. A person may not understand the reasoning, but like as not there will be one.

Each provider is a bit different, thats a strength and offers wider choice. Its why I try to encourage people that post on SD about doing DSC1 to elaborate ( after the event ) on how they personally found it. Honest ( unbribed! ) reporting - I believe - provides a great service to others and a much better source than own trumpet ( I'm half deaf so always out of key anyway ;) ) blowing by any of the providers postings.
