Another drought in the making?

I recorded 10 mm of rain in April. 1 water butt already empty.
1st and amazingly a bit of second cut of silage completed. Ground is rock hard and ditches now dry. A week of strong Easterly winds has sucked water from the soil. Early maize up but needs a drink.
I am having to water all my big pots and planters.
Fingers crossed for some serious rain in May.

Needed the sun really bad up here and now we need rain, I'm in scotland and there's no mud something isnt right!

Bonus for us at least Is in terms of stalking were able too check out some areas we otherwise wouldnt be able to acess for another 2? 3? months from now so thats nice.

Some challenging woodland stalking in SE England where Winter leaf fall is predominantly of the Beach variety as this stuff is not easily broken down. Without moisture (rain) its like walking on cornflakes.

The very windy conditions of late made stalking into a beast less challenging but I'd have preferred heavy rain!

The heavens have opened in downtown Tring just now. Hopefully a few mm will fall as ground is like concrete (grass is ok tho as we are deep clay here).
