Anschulz 525 advice please

I was having a go on this old gun of mine just the other day.. (now owned by friend). They were quite prolific in the 90s..

I would add that I've missed that draggy 525 trigger like a hole in the head! Though if all surfaces were polished it would be half decent - and a shotgun-like trigger is perfectly OK for hunting.

Hmm.
First rifle I ever had - many, many years ago. You only fully strip it once - that spring takes some handling, ask me how I know!
That said I loved mine and killed zillions of rabbits and a fair few foxes with it back in the day when you were only allowed a 22 r/f for fox control - how times have changed! I think I already mentioned the tendency to snap the ejector with Ultra-high velocity rounds - Stingers? But I would have another one in a heartbeat, apart from already having the .22 Stutzen already and the .17 hmr…..

There's a nice one for sale at Combe Farm sporting near me in somerset - am half tempted again. If I wasn't getting out of 22lr for good I'd get a thompson center benchmark with its screw in barrel. The 525 has put me off all push fit for life.

Got one cracking little rifle well accurate for rabbits 🐇 small enough for my 9 year old laddie to plink with supervised he loves it
Get one

A good one is great! Had mine for ages. They are cheap as chips too! In fact it's often cheaper to buy the rifle with a magazine than the mag on its own.

Fraid I'm going to have to disagree with the majority of you. I bought a brand new 525 from FA Anderson as my second RF many years ago and hated it with a passion. It was easily the most inaccurate rifle I've ever had and I couldn't wait to get shot of it! Maybe I was just unlucky - my first .22RF was (and still is) an Annie 1422D which I love and is in a different league altogether. My advice - avoid!

Had one for many years. Back then we were shooting around 200 rabbits a week every week . I had mine shortened by Calum Ferguson a back when he was just starting out in Langhom as they do have a long barrel . mine be used to love Eley scorpion hp ammo so I used to buy it 2000 at a time .
Mine was actually very accurate but you did have to keep it clean in the chamber area as wax build up could cause hangups.
The trick to stripping the 525 is to have the spring support guide or you may as well try pushing wet spaghetti up the stairs 😆 the tool is easy to make though if you need one ?let me know .
I had a spare 10 shot mag that cost about £50 😳30 years ago when I was on about £100 a week !! They did work flawlessly .
Finally they were made in Italy by I think franchi ?

Maybe marrochi....??

i bought one and it lasted two years ! if you do use high velocity ammunition it will split the aluminium reciever/ bolt housing and they are not replaceable

Mine’s just been scrapped after shooting the barrel smooth. Great fun to shoot but not the most accurate.

Having once owned, have always thought they are almost a very good gun - wonder if anyone ever fastened that forend into receiver to float the barrel and tuned the trigger, then you would be in business..
