Antlers outside

If I want to mount a red deer head outside (above garage door), is it best to treat the antlers/skull with anything to preserve it?

Just powerspray every two years or so

Ive got each species on my man den and even a full munty skull fitted externally

Proper Alaskan style, lol I've not treated them in 5 years and they are still authentic/ grimy as feck lol .

The above off KB sounds a good idea though
