Any .375 Winchester users here?

So far, nothing to report. As soon as I get my variation sorted and get the gun in my hands I'll post up a few pictures
Lever-actions are not for us lefties, but here's a link to the introductory flyer from Winchester to whet your appetite while you're waiting.
This is probably copyright, but is too large to upload to the site anyway.

It just so happens that I'm working on this cartridge at the moment, using 2 back-issues of Handloader magazine for reference which cover the M94 XTR, and reloading the .375 Win in real depth. If you can obtain copies of these I think they'll help a lot. The really useful (vital) ones are January 1979 (no.77), and the January 1983 update (no.101). Each of them deal with cast & jacketted bullets, and the latter takes in the more recent bullets that have come along from Sierra and Speer.

There are two factory loads from Winchester in 200gr PP and 250gr PP flat-point. Both have thin jackets, skived noses, and are heavily crimped into deep cannelures. The batch code '86RB41E' on your Western 200gr ammo from the auction denotes Feb 1980, my Western 250gr is Aug 1982, and the Winchester 200gr is Dec 1995 so this covers the production life span. I'll find out exactly what's in the factory ammo including the likely powder from the reference articles, and a bit of work. I know very llttle about the cast-bullet side of shooting, looks messy so have always steered clear of it. If you want more info/details/measurements or whatever then get in touch, happy to help.

I missed this when you posted it. Thanks for the info.

The rifle arrived at my RFD, but the variation paperwork was lost. I've had to submit it again. It feels like a nice gun but unfortunately I'm not able to bring it home just yet!

Not sure whether you're sorted for bullets but I noted the comments about shell house. I've had shellhouse custom size some bullets for me before- though in my case it was quite ordinary as it was their .309" 165gr that I had sized to .311". No charge for that though obviously that's a common sizer they had already.

Perhaps they can do a similar "oversize" sizing for you on some of their bullets, I guess it depends what size they are cast at and whether there's enough "meat" on them to size down to what you need. I'd drop them an email

Hi guys. I just put my name to a .375 Winchester '94AE lever gun. I'm wondering if anyone else on here has one?

From what I can gather they weren't made for long, and the cartridge isn't that popular? It's basically a .30-30 cartridge necked up to be straight walled, like a mini .45-70. It seemed interesting so I've reserved it. I've got a few factory rounds to go with it and some brass. Bullets are out there, along with moulds to cast them, but I can't find dies yet.

I'm keen to hear from anyone who may have one in the UK, although feedback on its performance from abroad would also be very much appreciated. I wonder if @Muir or @alberta boy may have stumbled across one? I'm hoping to get it set up as a woodland roe and muntjac rifle - the ballistics of the cartridge look to be well suited to that task.

I just bought a Winchester Big Bore in .375 Win
No idea why!
Just wanted it!

Have starline 38-55 brass
The cartridge may be lower pressure but the new starline brass can certainly take the pressure of 385win
