Any better Binos?

Hello all.

Bit of a budget question.

Is there any better Binos than Vortex diamondback for around the £250 mark?

Looking at the vortex Diamondback 10x42.

Thanks

As above secondhand is where you'll need to look.

I was lucky and picked up a set of Zeiss Binos for your budget. Granted it's their budget end, but they are really good to be fair.

I keep them in the car at all times and don't worry about them

Might be able to get Zeiss Terra’s around the 300 mark - I don’t have experience with them compared to the vortex though.
I’ve a pair of terras 8x50, brother has the equivalent diamondbacks. Stupidly I’ve never tried them side by side!

I’ve just bought the 8x42 Diamondbacks nd they’re superb.
Also backed by a warranty that no one can come close to.

In all honesty having had a pair no. Buy brand new if getting the DBs. The warranty is the best out there. The low light capability punches well above its price range which is where you need it in the UK.

I bought mine maybe 8 years ago and have no intention of changing them. I tried the 10X42 Viper HDs for a while but found them more difficult to use and more strain on my eyes for no gain. I've looked through Swaros and they were better but not enough for the cost difference. Plus the Vortex warranty is unbeatable. I've had an eye cup replaced so far but that's it.

I know it's not what the OP asked- and for the record I agree diamondback bins would be a safe bet and an easy sell on of ever an upgrade was wanted......

But IMO the need for binoculars is a little reduced now we have thermals. So whilst I agree 10x is a good mag (we have sticks to rest them on unlike birders)- I would go with a smaller lighter option of a 10x28 or 10x32 myself.

I bought a pair of the diamondback 8x42, there very good, I also bought a pair of the bantam 6.5x32. These are great, chuck them in a bag or pocket, nice size, really like the low mag for stability and field of view. Don’t use the 8x42 much since I bought the little binos.

No, I don’t think there is.

I have £600 Steiners and some meopta LRF at around the £1400, they are marginally better than the diamondback 8x42s so I don’t think you’ll get better in the same price bracket.

Have a look at delta binos. Went to optics warehouse to buy a pair of vortex but they recommend the delta. Quite a bit cheaper and I think still have a 10 yr warranty. Had them 4 years or so, can't complain for the money.

10years compared to an unquestioned lifetime warranty though…

No question the vortex warranty has a good reputation but the OP is on a budget and delta are a good option for the price.

I think with vortex you are paying extra for a warranty you will likely never need to use, I might be wrong but the optics aren't any better from what I've seen.
