Anyone have problems with Bushnell Elite 4500 6-24x40

I got an as new Bushnell Elite 4500 6-24x40 with side focus (new model) and have put it on my Blaser R93 .270 (a used barrel from a trader on this forum) which is mounted on a Gunstar saddle and rings (a good quality European alternative to a Blaser saddle mount). I went out to zero it this evening and could not get it zeroed in. One or two shots would hit the mark then the next would be about 4" high adjust the scope and it would be many inches low. The horizontal axis is fine but the elevation appears to be erratic.
Are these scopes prone to problems?
I have had Bushnell before with never an issue.
Do they come with a lifetime warranty?
I am not sure where the original owner purchased the scope.
Are there any places in the UK that can check if the scope does have a fault.
Many thanks..

Bummer!.. You ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that you have a solid mounting of this quality scope to your rail/rifle?? My apologies for that question, but it is a necessary one given your symptoms and circumstances here... I pride myself in being ANAL in such matters, but I have had problems due to my slight lack of concentration when mounting one or two of many scopes to my various rifles over passed years, par for the course in ones early years in many such technical hobbies I would think?.

I have two Bushnell Elite scopes on good, accurate rifles of mine, both being 6500 variants with high magnification options of 4.5x30x50 ... They are really excellent kit given the (relatively) low price compared to the premium German makes for instance, and the simple dualX reticles on both of mine is just what the doctor ordered for my uses.. Those scopes with loads of off center aiming points in their quite complex reticles are just not for me.... I like the simplicity of a DISTINCT, QUICKLY ATTAINABLE Aim Point for use on targets of opportunity and/or well aimed long range popping & the application of a bit of "Kentucky Windage" has generally served me well for my uses where my sighting doesn't quite cater for a strong side wind &/or shorter/longer range than I have set a zero for...

No, I haven't had any wandering of previously set aiming points with either scope, and I was using both the rifles mounted with said just this evening, checking my zero's through both @ 200 yards. One of MY scope's is a tad clearer at higher magnification & greater distances than the other, but that is my ONLY criticism of the pair..

I can only respectfully suggest you dismount and check EVERYTHING as you go back to fully mounting again, using a wee dab of quick break thread lock on all interlocking screw threads . Even if you don't actually notice a reason you MAY be lucky like I tend to be in such circumstances and somehow manage to rectify a minor mistake you MAY have made on your previous mounting exercise? Can but hope eh??

GOOD LUCK !!

ATB ....... and shoot safely
