Are UK Outfitters reluctant to deal with British stalkers,

You prices are reasonable, what your missing is an outing fee!

that’s where your losing money.

the way I see your pricing is that if your client doesn’t get a beast, you’ve slugged your guts out for nowt.
I think he means £80 per stalk on roe does etc so the outing fee is £80 with no extras like shot fees or a fee for a 2nd roe doe .

My business is dictated to by other people.
Far be it for me to interfere mate but that’s not how business as I see it works .Provide a service that people want and you are the dictator .Just ticking over for the sake of it only goes one way should mishaps occur .
If the service is up to scratch and nothing you’ve said says otherwise ,then set the bar to earn a decent living and the rest will follow .
Its commendable that you’ve kept costs within reach of most stalkers but the prices quoted do not account for time or profit .
Nobody begrudges anyone a decent living as long as the service is top notch and commitment is 100%.
Good luck with future ventures but don’t be a busy fool .

What does that mean, or what are you inferring?
Mishaps?
Cheers
Richard
As stated mate .Nothing sinister just everyday mishaps like a truck dying on you or cancellations .
I used to be a busy fool but not now .Business is booming and I’m now semi retired at 55 .
Charge what is good for you not the client and if the service is there ,business will thrive .People want reliable ,honest straight talking ,no hard sell ,businessmen and women at a rate that reflect quality .
Moaning only serves to state the person hasn’t got it right on all counts .

A great deal of business comes from the goodwill you create - word of mouth recommendations are far better than advertising.
As an example, when my younger son began his guided fishing expeditions in Iceland, he charged a fee based on the cost to him plus an element of profit. During an early season, after a number of bookings had been paid for in full, the Icelandic Krona lost a considerable amount of its value (Iceland effectively went broke). My son then booked new clients at the reduced cost to him BUT he also voluntarily refunded the earlier bookings to bring them in line with the then cheaper rates. Although this made his business somewhat precarious at the time, it has created so much goodwill as to repay him "in spades"

Trophy hunting will be the death of deerstalking.

K

Why??

I'm definately not a trophy hunter and even if I could afford it still wouldn't interest me.
I used to think trophy hunting was a bad thing but not now when I read in to it a bit more, used to think the same about African game hunting too.
But all animals need to be managed for he benefit of here environment, if that animal lives on to become a trophy it's obviously lived a good healthy life.

But surely managing deer/land to produce trophies year after year means ur managing the deer numbers fairly well.

But more importantly for someone like myself do u really think the rates people charge for hind/does pays far the stalkers time plus all the other many expenses ( pick up Argo, quad larder leases, larder, insurances)
It's the higher rates for bucks and the occasional trophy animal that helps subsidise the does for folk on tighter budgets.

Plus without trophy annals where re taxidermists going to get there work?
If it's not real trophy animal it will probably jut be a boiled scull mount rather than a full taxidermy job.

You'll get zero support from those who appose our chosen interest with an argument that asserts you need to make a meaningful living from the selling of trophy heads. And as for antis caring about the plight of a taxidermist .....................

What does anyone classify as a trophy ? Many photos of an Impala in Africa, and the word trophy underneath . Thats no different to any of us shooting a reasonable Fallow buck in my opinion.
So what is a trophy? A young lads first Rabbit, a mans first Salmon, or a novices first Roe Buck, or may be a Sable antelope in Africa, or a Wild Boar in Germany, what is classified as a trophy?

Some might say a medal Roe buck. If so would it in many cases point to the fact that the Roe have been managed well on an estate and the buck is nearing its end of life and was taken by a stalker, allowing a younger stronger buck to take over and spread his genes. This trophy business and those who would see it banned, have no idea what they are on about. Most are the usual celebrities who know bugger all about the countryside, conservation or wildlife, but it makes them feel they are worthy of their existence when they get involved with such causes.

So what is a trophy??

In the meantime as an aside to this I am still stalking Roe bucks with clients. 7 clients 7 bucks :) 1 missed, but still took a buck, so would have had 2. All cull animals and yet the client took photos so is that their trophy?
