Having a look at the petition for changing shotguns to section 1 and there are 42k signatures….

This seems ridiculous considering there are almost 500k shotgun certificate holders in the U.K. alone, not considering the FaC holders and other fieldsports enthusiasts it just seems laughable!

Petition: Do not merge section 1 & 2 regulations on firearms licenses

Keep section 1 firearm & section 2 shotgun licensing separate. I think this would help to protect law-abiding owners, the shooting industry, & rural communities. Policies should focus on real public safety issues without burdening responsible citizens or damaging heritage & livelihoods.

Bondi certainly won’t make opposing this easier but, it takes all of 30 seconds.

Cynicism is likely well founded, but if you care about your shooting, surely the risk of wasting 30 seconds is worth taking?

I will pass it on to some people I know who have both SGC and FAC but do not use forums and will likely not know about these things. Even though I use a couple of forums, I do not spend my day living on them, so often only see things which grab my attention or appear at the top of the list like this one did.

I agree that’s it’s already been decided but if we don’t petition or push at all we are just rolling over.

Remember also that this is spineless weak government so pushing back can change the tide in some cases.

No one said ignore it, however different cultures and laws have different problems - it should not be used as a direct comparison to ours.

Anyway, this thread was about the lack of responses from the shooting community, not about Bondi. There are already 2-3 other threads about that.

The powers that be may well have already made up their minds ?.
But have all those who have mentioned it actually signed the petition, or, heaven forbid, spent a little of their extremely time to write to their MP's for support ?.
I'll wait.
We need EVERYONE who has an interest in shooting, or the countryside in general to actually stand up and make their voices heard !.
Instead of sitting, watching "Dead Enders" saying "it's gonna happen anyway" so why bother ?.
Better dust off your golf clubs fellas !.
