Are we really this daft?!?

I can’t see it making much difference if shotguns moved to section 1 anyway those that are dedicated shot gun shooters will comply and just carry on with their sport why have two certificates when one would cover all firearms.
As for the argument on good reason join a clay pigeon club or a syndicate game shoot pest control on local farms might even encourage people to actually go out shooting.

very naive view on the impact, as others have said it would have a big impact on the sport and the industry, gun shops would likely close, you will likely get little for any guns you can no longer justify and the cost of all shooting would significantly increase, given the shops that remain would still have the same overheads but far fewer sales and likely less customers.

@Stevie/P really?

Ever taken a mate to the clay ground for them to try their hand? You won’t be able to do that if this happens, at least not outside of limited non-member days.

Seen a youngster try his hand with Dad’s gun on the syndicate? Not if he’s not got his own FAC.

Want to invite your clay shooting friends on a days walked up? Not until they send their licenses in to have a game shooting condition added and that’ll require a land clearance form or some other evidence.

Want a new gun? That’ll be a month waiting for your 141 or perhaps 3 for a full variation. And let’s not forget the fee.

The list goes on. This will make a difference, and not a good one.
^^this^^

You folks that don’t think it will make much difference are deluded!

We can and do influence things = Sometimes common sense does shine through

Grey hound racing was to be banned in Wales but opposition to its ban has i believe stayed it for now

Our local council banned fishing on a local lake - a bit campaign and support from BASC and spearheaded by CA again has stayed and maybe reversed the decision
Are you sure? I am under the impression that a Green Senedd member held the Labour members to ransom (they needed that vote) on another matter to give their vote to Labour in order to force the condition that Greyhound racing was banned.

Not totally Hambone - a clumsy line i wrote really - I was under the impression a legal challenge was under way and its not the foregone conclusion it was ?

There's a lot of defeatism going on here on the pretext we;re all doomed.
Yes its not good but we can help ourselves a bit MORE and there's a lot more shooters than trans people so lets stand up for our WAY OF LIFE!!!!
They manage it so lets all try a bit harder and fill in all the petitions we can.

I’d wager that the ‘shooting community’ is more than 1% of the population and perhaps more like 1.5%.

Interesting percentage, with the US NRA claiming around 5 million members and US population around 340 million it's around the same percentage.
We seem to be incapable of making the same amount of noise?
