BASC - CONTRACT TERMS

The problem with crossing different breeds, Mike, is that one never knows which characteristics the pups will take from each parent. Knowing our luck, we'd end up with the finances of the SGA and the vigour of BASC...:)
Yep we know who both the terrier and the Papillon are.šŸ˜†

OK once again I question has popped in to my infirm mind,

Have any of these people who are on here slating BASC for this that an the other and for being the devil incarnate with the sole purpose of seeking the demise of all aspects to field sports ever taken the time to contact their own organisation asking why the firm that they are paying annually to are allowing BASC "to be seen or proclaim" to be the voice of shooting, an if so could they give me the answer that was given to them please.

You and me both, but I spoke to Alec years ago when I keepered not far from him.
His opinion at the time was that many Highland members would not want it. I'm afraid it was a little bit of the Scotland/ England thing which was and is a pity. The SGA is run well and if you have ever heard Alec speak at a meeting eg Edinburgh march he is almost fanatical in his support for field sports.
He reminded me slightly of a certain Austrian corporal and certainly inspired the audience. Very similar to the late Ronnie Rose, another practical and excellentsupporter of our sport and the SGA.
Unfortunately a merger of organisations is never likely to happen as too many at BASC would be out of a job and a good easy living.

And that is a great shame if it’s a Scotland/England thing....another reason I abhor the SNP and their continued efforts to drive a wedge between us all. It would be great to see all the organisations merge or at least collaborate more - but as you say there is financial gain that some could stand to lose....a great shame.

regards,
Gixer

Yes, I asked the question on a number of my renewals - with a hypothetical scenario (the one the BASC failed to assist a shooter with previously) the responses where night and day to the poor show of BASC’s ā€œyou’re on your own I’m afraidā€....

I asked my org why they hadn't joined BASC and the 'hateful eight' in selling out shooters over lead. Their response was "because we are not surrender-monkeys".

Have you asked why they're allowing BASC to do all these things without your organisation questioning it..
It's like the TGWU making changes to issues that affect the members of Unison, without TGWU saying anything otherwise

Does that mean they're doing something to fight it Carl?

You keep missing the point, Jimmy. Being 'insufficient' is one thing (and is a charge that could probably be levelled at most of the organisations). What is of more concern to me is when shooting organisations actively cause harm to us. Making threats to kill, having the police attend your HQ, seeing your CEO go rogue (twice!), signing up to and legitimising a ridiculous medical scheme, betraying shooters over lead with no consultation, etc., etc., etc. These are not problems of insufficiency: these people are actively destroying our way of life.

Ok I think we have worn out the tread on the tyres.
Personally I have no issue with people asking questions about any organisation that is represented on here. BUT it does get a bit too much at times. It can put people off joining to an extent.
If you have a real grievance against BASC please keep it civil, some may not agree with your opinion.
