BASC Council Elections.

I have decided to put my head above the parapet and stand for the Welsh seat in the forthcoming BASC Council Elections. If you are entitled to vote (BASC member living in Wales I think) I would be very grateful if you would read my pitch which appears under my real name of David Seager. I would like your vote as well but that is your choice.

Voting papers will appear in the next "Shooting and Conservation" or you will be able to vote on-line, when voting opens, if you are registered for access to the members area of the BASC.org site. Registration isn't too onerous and is worthwhile for the other information that is accessible there.

Many thanks,

David.

I have to say this made me smile. As a SD man I shall cast my vote for you, now I live in Wales. Just you make sure you ask what the hell is going on and why members are kept in the dark.
The best of good luck - it needs someone with a bit of principle to give us back the BASC.

Good luck Kalahari! As a well rounded sportsman (stalker, pheasants and some pigeon and pest control) I reckon you represent a good cross section of shooters well

Good man! I had been intending to stand myself, but left it a bit too late. Glad I didn't now - you're far better suited to the role than I am.
You'll be getting a couple of votes from this household.

The occasional stalker, the rough shooting farmer, the small syndicate, the lone wildfowler, the pest controller, the youngsters with their airguns and ferrets - these people are the backbone of Welsh shooting sports, and they need a voice. I believe that David's diverse background will enable him to fully represent the varied interests of basc members in Wales.

True, we also have some large commercial driven game shoots in Wales, but most of the clients come from over the border, so are adequately represented by membership in their own region.

Thanks guys, glad you aren't standing Tim, I would have had to vote for you as the better candidate.

David.

Modesty! That's exactly what the association needs! It's rather inclined towards arrogance and pomposity at the moment. I hope the vote goes in your favour.

Hello again,

Bit of a bump as the papers are out now. Please read the various election addresses and make up your mind. I would be grateful of your vote if you live in Wales. People living outside the Principality (aka God's chosen country) are spared the responsibility of voting for me, but if you do live in Wales I would be very grateful for your support.

Many thanks,

David Seager.

Another gratuitous bump. After all the revelations, I hope as a complete outsider I can help to sort out some of the problems.

David.

I have just sent my vote in as promised so you have 1 from Wales 'in the bag'.
As for your post above, never mind 'hoping' you can sort out some of the problems, you got my vote because you will. Whilst I understand your motives for writing in this way and I much appreciate a degree of humility (different to what we have seen at BASC), you will know the need to be assertive on our behalf to 'stop the rot' and re- establish an organisation which is ahead of its members - at the moment its struggling to catch up.
The very best of luck, I for one, will offer my help in any way I can, should you need it.

Thank you. As you might have guessed I won't promise what I can't deliver. I will do all in my power to help shooting to thrive and I can't promise more than that. As I am sure you are aware a thriving efficient BASC is part of that.

David.

In the light of the latest news about the dismissal of the Chief Executive and that (in my opinion) the previous Chief Executive was not a friend of shooting sports, conservation or members of the BASC I would like to say that if I am elected I will push for the Council to oversee a far more rigorous appointments structure than has been used in the past.

David.
